Adding new names to database?

Forgive the very very elementary nature of my understanding of database magic in this game. So as I gather it, each year a new pool of players is generated to replace the ones that retired, and they are regens of retired players, so that when, say, Anze Kopitar retires, at some point in the future (maybe the very next year?) a 13-year-old Slovenian player appears with Kopitar's traits and potential, and moves up through the ranks again. And this is the case for all existing players, from superstar to schmo. The new Slovenian player is given a random name off a list of Slovenian first names and Slovenian last names. I think.

What I'm curious about is, is it possible to increase the size of the list of names? Do they come from the starting database, so that future Slovenian regenerated players might have the first name "Anze" or the last name "Kopitar" and have a small chance of actually being named "Anze Kopitar"? The reason I ask is because I'm currently managing a QMJHL team and am wondering if it's possible to manually increase the variety of names I see in the draft pool every year. The league is a bit overwhelmed with Baravaglios and Bermond-Gonnets, among other names that you wouldn't expect to see multiples of. The most recent draft featured three players with the (in real world, pretty unique) first name "Obinna-Oliver," as well as one "K'Andre", so clearly, the database uses existing real players as a basis to generate new names.

So I'm wondering (and assuming I'd have to do this before starting a new game rather than try and do this on a current save), in order to boost variety in the names, is there a "pool" of names to which I can add more, or to do so, would I have to change the actual database of players?
