What is this?
A 1993-94 start date database using 2023-24 Pivot as a base structure with a combination of Jbo's 1992-93 DB, TBL 98, 2000ish and modern 2024-25 Pivot! This is a semi-fantasy reconstruction of hockey starting in 1993, it has players seeded all the way through the 2027 NHL draft. It does not use the Prospect Generator as the database should be well seeded by the time you get to 2024-25.
The NHL has been semi-modernized as a 28 team league, I brought some franchise expansions forward (Minnesota and Columbus) Kip helped perform fantasy drafts for both teams using the 1992 Expansion rules. We also selected good starter staff for both teams.
This is a complete recreation (semi-accurate to the best of my ability) of hockey world-wide for the 1993-94 season. I took a lot of creative liberties especially with the North American minor leagues. This has an immense amount of detail work done including full player statistics and team histories, especially for the NHL using the yearbook published before that season. I manually recreated NHL team rosters and depth charts based on draft histories and player statistics.
Salaries and team budgets have been modernized to match a scale taken from modern Pivot. This should be fully playable for any league, Euro leagues will have some empty teams and not a lot of hired staff at the start but should be enjoyable, this needs more testing and this database is intended for NHL FOCUSED PLAYS.
Why do this?
NHL 94 is hands down the best EA NHL video game and I wanted to recreate that feeling in EHM but not do a complete 90s project due to the amount of work and limitations for a longer-term sim. I loved working on the 2000ish project and wanted to have an earlier alternative to that.
Any known issues?
Yes, some. Team Canada may not field a roster for international play, Riz is assisting me on this. There will likely be duplicate players/staff I will continue to clean those up as I go through it. I've cleaned up about a quarter of the database to remove any fake players/staff, I still have a lot to go through.
What should we expect for updates?
I am not going to be moving/renaming any teams at this point or recreating leagues that existed during that time and have since folded. That is not the intention of this database. I will do quality updates and tweaks, I BADLY NEED FEEDBACK!
