Just wondering if any of you have ever heard of the Silver Sticks hockey tournament.
Its held in Port Huron, Michigan (my home town). Its said to be the 2nd largest youth hockey tournament in North America(I think the largest is the world hockey tournament in Ottawa). Its for Peewee, Bantam, and Midget age levels player from the A, AA, and AAA levels. Last year I saw Al McInnis who was coaching his son's team. I see Chelios every year watching his sons play and I've also seen Curtis Joseph a few years back watching his son too.

When teams win the Championship, they are presented a silver hockey stick as the trophy, but the real Silver Stick is on display in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Its really a cool tournament, its so big that it has to be done in 2 weekends.

Some notable players that have played in this tournament are Brent Gretzky, Dale McCourt, Dino Ciccarelli, Jamie Hislop, Marty Howe, Mike Knuble, Mike McDougal, Shawn Burr, David Legwand, Keith Primeau, Brian Rafalski, Ed Olczyk, Ray Sheppard, Derian Hatcher, Brian Holzinger, Steve Smith, Bob Neely, Tony McKegny, Chris Ferraro, BJ Young, Peter Ferraro, Adam Foote, Brian Rolston,Kerry Fraser, Ron Duguay, Doug Weight, Brett Lebda, and Brad Jones.

Well to add to the list of NHL players I've seen at this tournament, I saw Yzerman at the Bantam AAA Finals yesterday. He was there to watch Steve Thomas coach his team to a championship.

Word quickly spread that Yzerman would be there after someone spotted his daughters and wife sitting in the stands. Sure enough the arena started getting crammed with people, and then Yzerman came in and all hell broke loose.
