SI Games Indefinately Halts Development Of EHM

Sports Interactive have announced today that they have indefinitely halted developing EHM. Despite being the best hockey management game ever, there will most probably never be another version of the game we all love. This is truly tragic news.
The reason for this? Poor sales caused by pirate copies of the game being available on the internet via torrent downloads. According to Miles Jacobson (SI Games Managing Director), whilst the claimed number of downloads of the game via these illegal torrents rose, the number of sales of legitimate copies remained static. The availability of the pirate copies of the game meant that sales were poor. So poor, in fact, that the game did not bring in enough revenue to cover development costs; let alone licence fees.
This does not mean that there will never be another version of EHM. But it does mean that there will not be one for the foreseeable future.
Ultimately, piracy has cost us the future of an absolutely awesome hockey management game.
As for the future of The Blue Line? As we've always said "The Blue Line Never Dies"; we will stay true to our motto and continue to provide EHM fans with a place to discuss the game and hockey in general as well as download addons for the game.
On a side note, the final ever patch for EHM 2007 is now available here: http://www.sigames.com/downloads.php?type=view&id=377
