Jordan Staal shorthanded phenomenon?

Hi guys,

as I'm far away from the NHL action and usually only get to see a few games on TV, maybe you can help me with something I've been wondering for quite some time now: How does it come that I see Jordan Staal of Pitsburgh score so many shorthanders? Do the Pens play such an offensive PK or what?
May sound like a stupid thing to ask, but this really is a thing I noticed.

BTW, I'm thinking of acquiring Staal for my EHM team as my PK sucks... ;)

He's always in the right place at the right time.

Excellent hockey sense.

I wouldn't say it's so much their system, though it is more offensive than most, as it is his individual skill at poking the puck free and breaking out.

Jordan's a real tall kid who plays with iirc a very long stick and is obviously extremely proficient with pokechecking as InStaaled mentioned, so the combo means lots of lose pucks turned to scoring opps. He's a clear Cy Young winner as well :-p

Thanks

Are his PK-abilities represented in EHM07 too? I'm playing with quite an old database (although using patch 3.0.3), and in that one Jordan Staal isn't a prolific shorthander, nor even a good goalscorer

Jordan is freaking unreal on the PK. For a kid so young, he is sooooo smart, and yeah that reach helps alot too. But honestly, it is crazy how well he can read a play. And of course it helps to have some of the skill guys he plays with. Jordan really makes them look good. :-D
