[Popomundo] Getting Started!
Posted: Wed Apr 11, 2007 2:49 pm
1. Register (it's free) at Popomundo and pick your character.
Keep in mind we've found it much easier to play the game as a female character if that doesn't wierd you out too much
2. Make sure your character starts in New York City or we won't be able to help your character!
3. Check out the Users/Band Guide and add the other TBL'ers to your Friends list. Message April Sherwood, Minstrel's character.
4. Introduce yourself and state your character's name in our Popomundo Thread!
5. The game early on has a "Mother's Tour" where your mother teaches you about the game and gives you the basics of game mechanics. That should get you going.
6. Newbie lessons learned:
Set your character to 'Flirty' and your relationships will build faster.
Don't sing to people or try to tell people jokes without the learned skills for both first or you will damage instead of improve your relationships with other characters.
The same goes for 'teasing' people, it's a negative thing.
Don't offer/accept dates until you have well over $1,000 to burn or you'll end up not being able to pay for your date and it will only be a negative for your characters.
Don't bother using experience points on 'Vocal' talent even if you are a singer for your band. Use 'musicality' instead!
If you are going to write songs you should stay at home and concetrate on writing, being in other locations can make your song turn out worse!
You can rest at home or at a park as ideal locations
You learn skills faster if you are at New York University. Speaking of skill don't carry skill books around with you, drop them at your apartment until you need them or they will be stolen from you!
You can go to a gym to make your workouts more effective but you can get a benefit from it anywhere
If you're going to shop or party you should make sure your character has about $50 on them to spend or you won't get the benefits. Usually it takes two or three times resting/partying/shopping to see the benefits in mood or health.
You don't actualy need skills and instruments to play your first show, just make sure you have at least 8 songs in your set.
It's best to book a show about two weeks in advance.
Just say no to groupies until you are popular enough for them to be worth it! Bad bands get baddddd groupies that hurt your star power and are infamous for giving you diseases!
