I've noticed that no matter what I set my team needs to the same players are offered to me no matter what..ie: Toronto ALWAYS offers Kris Newbury no matter what I have my team needs set to..the Kings always offer Jeff Cowan, the Caps Bryan Muir...and they offered these guys whether I was trading a mediocre player or a high profile defenseman...am I doing something wrong?

Apparently those are just players that they don't need and want to get rid of without putting them on waivers.

I learned in trades that if you are able to sweeten a bit your offer (like to add a 7th pick or a fringe player/prospect) your pc opponent normally woudn't counterpart with annoying 'not needed' players and a often accepts your offer. Also, setting your team needs to 'rebuild through draft' usually helps.

Always negociate.

Put their useless players off the trade (with the 'wrong way' sign ;)) and take a look at what you'd like in their team/prospects/draft picks. I usually take 10-15 minutes for each single negociation to see what i'd like to get, what the other team may be willing to give, etc, and i usually get a sweet deal.

It takes more time than just accepting/refusing the teams offers, but it definitely worth it!

Also make sure your team needs are set, if you put "Rebuilding through draft" you tend to only get offered draft picks, if you put rebuild through young players you seem to only get offered utter rubbish etc
