Ehm 2005 Questions

Ok i have search for nearly 2hours now and cannot find this info anywhere, the First Question is the one i really need an answere to.

Q1: How do you increase the Salary Cap, the NHL is going to 48mil(supposedly this season) i think its time to follow suite in game.
Q2: Why Do players Like say Modano for Dallas or Yzerman for the Wings "Test Free agency" these players in real life would never reject a vaild offer from their respected clubs. I offer Modo a 2yr 5mil,NTC ext he rejected it then signed a 2yr 4.2mil,NTC contract with the jackets.

He Came off a career season i had him allong J. Jokinen and O.Jokinen he pulled down 135p averaged 25+min ice-time, ect.

Q3: when using pregame editor how do i create a player for upcoming drafts, i had this a long time ago and have since been unable to find it. If i created a Player named, Captain Morgan how do i get him draftable in the year 2008-09 for instance.

Q4: When using Pregame Editor is it better to make a player 200potential, 200 current or
-10potential 200 current. I am trying to make a couple players really good, for the upcoming drafts (straight 20's across the board, just to make teams like, the Jackets, Canadians,Coyotes, Leafs,Panthers, better and none of them get better the 15 across the board.
Q4b: In Pregame editor I cannot edit Player Stats( IE If Captain Morgan played For Minnesota and Scored 20g and 10a in 40g) how do i get that to show ingame.

Q5: How do i unretire Jerseys. The Game won't allow players to use #99, No Stars player can wear #8, these are 2 numbers i want for my created players(I no why they are retire but its a game and being that it is a game i would find it more to my liking be bale to have whoever where whatever. So is it possible and if so how do you do it....

Thanks in advance

It's not possible to change the salary cap and it's not possible to "un-retire" a jersey, at least the 99 I think. If the editor doesn't offer the possibility to change retired jerseys for each team then it's not possible.

As for Q2, they will not refuse your offer if it is somewhere near the value they'd get in free ageny. Modano or Yzerman didn't play for free either. I don't know why he didn't sign with you if you offered him more. Maybe you widdled him off somehow or he was insulted you offered him only 5m over 2 years after all he has done for the team, after a career year.
Just because they're loyal players doesn't mean they will tolerate everything.

Thanks for the Answeres

Thiers a way around Retired Numbers but You have to Sign them to your team immedaitely to do it
You Set Fav # to say 8
then set squad # to *, but you have to have the players signed to the pro team. But if you can get around it then thier has got to be a way to change it

I thought the SI guys said you could adjust the salary cap with a config file? I could have sworn this was possible. I'm just not sure how to do it.

I just realized you're talking about EHM 2005, not 2007. I'm not really sure if changing the cap is possible in that version. Sorry... don't mind me. Move along!

Windowed Mode

Hope someone sees this post in the old subject. I searched around the forums and figure this is the best spot to post this issue.

I am attempting to run 2005 in windowed mode. It gives me an error about making sure my resolution is greater than 1024*768 and I tested that with various resolutions to no avail.

I am running XP and have a fairly new flatscreen monitor.

Is there a solution to this? Thank you.

I run EHM 05 in windowed mode, but to do it your native resolution size MUST be more than 1024 x 768. If it is not bigger, it will only run at full screen.

Is that absolutely definite? There must be somewhere that the cap is stated that could potentially be edited.

I'm fairly certain that's an absolute definite. In EHM 2007, the cap is altered using transfer_rules_config.cfg within the database folder. Such a file does not exist for the EHM 2005 databases. Therefore it must be hardcoded into the exe.

That's a great shame, there's always a bunch of elite talent (Crosby, Kovalchuk, Spezza to name a few) that nobody seems able to afford.

Been reading the thread about editing league structures using hex editor. Surely it must be possible to adjust the cap in a similar way to what you are trying with league sizes. If so, how would I go about trying to find it?

The hex editing of league structiures has been with EHM 2007, not EHM 2005...

To do so with EHM05 I think you'd need to first find out the database structure (SI released this for EHM07, not sure if they did for EHM05), and then you'd need to start looking in the possibly applicable files (keeping in mind that you have to take the time to "translate" all you see in the hex editor to understand it), and make small changes and test to see the results and hopefully in time you'd get the results you're looking for..it's a very tedious/time consuming task with no guarantee of success

Perhaps someone with an interest and the needed skills will make an EHM Updater for 2005 like Archi did for 2007...I'd love that myself, but it's beyond me to do!

You'd need to load EHM and ArtMoney (download the freeware Special Edition here). Then in ArtMoney, perform a search for whatever the salary cap is (e.g. if it is $40m then do a search for "40000000"). You'll then need to try editing each of the values found one by one to see if it makes any difference.

I'm fairly certain the salary cap will be hardcoded. I haven't checked the 2005 data structure, but I wouldn't expect to find it there because the cap is hardcoded to just a couple of leagues - and so it wouldn't make sense to store the value in the database.

Archi, do you think it would be possible to update the 2005 db into a 2012 version with the tools you've made? Some tweaking to them would probably be necessary

Ya Arch, is it possible? HaHa

I've already been bugging him about this! HaHa
I think the 1974 db would be cool as an online game...

By the way, his answer to me has been "maybe" but even if it was possible no idea when (understandably it's finding the time to even look into it); it's not on the radar at all, just wishful thinking...

Nino already knows the answer to this! :-D

Technically, I think it should be possible. I haven't looked at the EHM 2005 database structure in any detail, but I expect it should be feasible. I would need to have a proper look at the structure to say for sure though. The biggest challenge would be ensuring that any hardcoded league and team names are corrected and that the league structures are amended (eg if a playable league in 07 has 12 teams but it only has 10 teams in 05 then we'd need to remove two teams).

The biggest issue is simply finding time. It is something I'm interested in looking at, but not as a high priority. This summer is dedicated to a variety of other work and after this I want to finalise the Updater. Maybe I can look at a converter before/after Xmas, but I don't want to promise anything at this stage because I don't know what my free time will be like once I start my studies in mid September. It also depends on how much demand there is for a converter (please do post in this thread if it is something that appeals to you).

No joy :\ I managed to change it on the team finances screen for one team, but as soon as I left the screen it had reset back to 39,000,000.

You probably changed just the value that is displayed on screen. There ought to be another one which will have the correct effect.

I have changed all values that came up in the search, that was the only one that affected the salary cap at all
