Does anyone have any tactical guides?
Anyone have any general rules for the game? Or is it all insanely random?

Have you checked out the Walkthrough Guide from the 'Tutorials & Templates' section of our Download area? It covers a lot of questions you might have. I contributed quite a bit to the Tactics section so it would be redundant for me to re-post my approach here.
