Anyone ever had really strange results when playing a season?

I've played the 06-07 season a couple dozen times, and for the most part, its the usual suspects in the finals. This is an unedited database, so this came right out of the blue.

The 2007 Stanley Cup champions were the Florida Panthers, who defeated the Columbus Bluejackets 4 games to 1 in the finals.

I've seen all kinds of teams win the Cup. In one career, I was running a WHL team and then went on to run an AHL team, I saw surprising teams win The Cup. I think that first season (maybe it was the second, I can't remember for sure) the Toronto Maple Leafs won. Like that would ever happen!

Personally, I love when these kinds of things happen. The reason being that I always get a bad taste in my mouth when I see the same things happening at the same times in all the games I start... but when something unexpected comes up, it shows some signs of life on the game's part - motivating me a little more to keep playing.

The Leafs finished dead last in my just finished season. Well, 5th last, but they got the first overall pick! I managed to get my Hawks into second in the conference.

One thing I always see happening is John Madden being salary dumped at the start of 06-07, and always to Colorado. It always happens before I get a chance to even make an offer. He's on the block and sold within the day. I could muster a better offer than the one they got.

Ah well, at least I know I'll always get Sergei Brylin for a 7th.

What if you put Madden on your shortlist as soon as you start the game? I haven't tried this myself but I guess it's worth a shot if you want him. Personally, I think he makes too much money for what he is. There's other guys in the game that can do what he does but for a lot less money.

Sometimes in my games I'll have a chance to get him before the other teams do, I don't know why or how though. I think he's pretty good for the money, if you put him with good players he can do real well. One year I had him with Ovechkin and Madden put up like 140 points.

They were very Strong played the Final Agains t the Sharks , But the Year after they loose Kariya and Belfour , Ottawa Senators loose al the time, I Have this Team, I let the coach doing is Job and keep a pratice sessions but there is somethink i cannot do well.

Rangers ,Sign Drury like real Life And They Sign St-Louis, Mats Sundin is a Flyers and they are Good, Montreal Canadiens Sign Kariya and Forsberg and Trade Carey Price ?

Maybe my team is too soft and need a Tough Guy ?? , I Need Help i am starting hate that game.

everything is possible.. who was thinking the canes would win the cup at the beginning of 205-2006 season.. and against the Oilers??
Who was thinking that Martin St-lLouis would win the hart trophee 6 years ago?

Having surprise in the game is realistic. and thats why I dont get bored playing it

Yeah the Jackets seem do to extremely well in my first season as well. The won the cup the last time I played.

A heard some "experts" predicting a breakout year for the jackets last year.. maybe it will be this year.. let see if Hitchcock can turn this franchise around.

Yeah, it is always fun when unrealistic things happen in my game, Like when a team from sunny south california wins the cup... oh wait... nm. I've seen too much weird unexpected stuff from the real NHL over the last few seasons to be surprised by anything (No one will ever be able to convince me the 2005 draft was not rigged for the Pens to get #1).
Just last season I made 3 prediction that all my friends "in the know" thought were stupid.

1. Buffalo was a team to watch out for.
2. Flyers were gonna tank like the '61 Phillies.
3. Alexander Semin was gonna help heat things up for the Capitals.

1 and 3 were proven pretty quickly as Buffalo was one of the top teams all year and at the Caps Home opener This Happened.
That was a great game cause I went to it with one of my friends who thout I was stupid for saying Semin was gonna be a huge boost for the caps.

With the Pens I managed to get Madden. The instant Mad Lou put him on sale, I offered him something and it went through.

One other game, it was somebody else who get Madden (don't remember), but yeah usually the Avs grab him.
And the Flyers also rocks hard, it help to have an healthy forsberg

I saw the lottery and there was no rigging. Unless all of the balls said Pittsburgh on it. Plus it made up for losing Ovechkin, however getting a guy like Malkin never hurts.

The craziest thing I have seen is the Blackhawks win the Cup. They are the biggest 'losers' in the NHL.

Or the Pittsburgh balls had weights in them... I've seen such balls and they tend to get drawn a lot more often than the regulars. I'm not saying the Penguins organization did it, I believe that they are innocent. I think it was Bettboy and the league as a ploy to keep the Penguins in town. Meh either way you know what we say in Washington.

Cant believe the caps handed that sign out at one of their games. Every fan in attendance (including the kids) got it.

Heres something I found odd though in the game. A Penalty Shot assist. As you can see it was a bug as Vishnevski wasnt even on the ice when the Penalty shot was awarded. The ASSIST was awarded to his stats so it wasnt just a display error. Oh and disregard the fact Tootoo was actually able to break away. I can handle bizzare but thats just totally too far out there for me to think about.

i hope you are joking about the pittsburgh rigged thing... because im pretty sure that Bettman was hoping that a team like the NY Rangers had Crosby.. for him.. if its not working in pittsburgh.. it will work elsewhere

Yeah, thats why the league fought so desperatly against the new owners to keep the team in Pitts. (No, I'm not joking.)

the league wasnt fighting for the pens.. they were ready to send the team elsewhere.. its was a fight between owners and pensylvania governer... actual owners wanted a new arena.. and the the guy who wanted to buy it.. a casino.. so since they got their arena.. no more team on sale. Pittsburgh isnt a big money market for the NHL.. they would have make much more money if crosby would have end with the rangers or red wings.

Thats where your wrong, think about it. Rangers and Redwings already sell out a lot of their games so they wouldnt be drawing in any new tickets. Pitts does not. However get a nice young player in town with the team starting to win and ticket sales will increase (just like they have)

its not about tickets sale.. its about TV rights

Hardely, teams dont get paid per household watching the game, they get paid per ticket sale. Plus teams own their own TV rights so the league wouldn't care where Crosby went if that were the case. Even having Crosby go to a big market team wouldn't raise the price of TV rights all so much. A team is going to need to keep their price down because being on TV helps... Ticket Sales.

Besides, if you thought the league cared about TV rights all so much do you think they would let the NHL linger on OLN for 2 years?

Oh, easily tootoos goal, Vishnevski has 7 assists in 27 games compared to Tootoos 2 goals in 27 games. In the 3 years I've had tootoo hes scored a WHOPPING 3 GOALS!! Even I dont know why I keep him other than a shortage of RW players on my roster.

If he does I'll be posting that screenshot ALL over. I doubt he will though. He is still on pace at around 45 games but thats little more than halfway through the season.
