What is possibly the worst team that you can start with in NHL EHM 2007?

I feel it would be fun to start with the worst team and work my way up to glory from there. If anyone has opinions, please throw them out.

haha, good thread, good question too, sometimes on my game teams play really well, when there expected to be rubbish, lke the capitals always have a long playoff run, even tho they have a rubbish team, IMO. Also tampa seem to do rubbish, and look at the stars they have!

I'd say the worst is Phoenix, sorry Coyotes but you don't have anyone that jumps at me, and you always finish botto of pacific in my games.

It would be nice to start out at the lowest team and then work up to the NHL. Maybe I will give that team a try, thanks.

Did you mean in the NHL, or the whole world?

I am talking about the whole world, not just the NHL.

in the NHL I'd say the leafs are the hardest team to win the cup with. They have some decent players, but not good enough to make a long run. They also lack prospects.

I'll keep getting suggestions before I run with this whole thing, because once I start playing, I don't want to stop.

Keep throwing out teams.

You will find the league rankings HERE. Worst teams are in the worst leagues, of course :D

note: it's not the original thread where this rankings where mentionned, but i couldn't find the original one, where it was said that the worst team seem to be the Wightlink Raiders...

Thank you, Shadd666.

I'll go ahead and take a look at that and I heard about the Raiders as well. I'll look around for a little bit and then start my game.

Lol :D Nah, not worst league in the world ;) But worst in EHM. Keep in mind that the game doesn't include every world league ;)

Yeah, if you check with the editor, Wightlink is the playable team with the lowest reputation and worst squad in the game, and is also in the playable league with the lowest reputation.

Playable teams that suck :

English Premier Ice Hockey League (reputation 3) :
All teams (all teams have 1000 reputation, but Wightlink also has the worst squad IMHO)

Slovenian Elite League (reputation 6) :
HS Olimpija (reputation 1000) - as STOLBUN says.

Finnish Suomi Division/Finnish First Division (reputation 5) :
Many teams with low budgets and 2000 reputation - also the added fun in being able to potentially get promoted two times and enter the Finnish SM League/Finnish Elite league. You could actually potentially take one of these bad teams and become European Club Champions at some point :)

I'd have to go with the Wightlink Raiders (as Shadd suggests). This news article posted in the Wightlink thread might convince you! Here's some snippets from it:
Toronto Star wrote:despite their franchise in the 12-team English Premier League having won only three of 43 league games this season. Plus, they play in a 1,200-seat arena with one of the smallest ice surfaces in pro hockey, or anywhere for that matter.

...

Hockey as played by the Wightlink Raiders is different, to say the least. They play in a rink so tiny that virtually every shot is a scoring chance. Opponents often pepper the Raiders goalie with 80 shots a game and double-digit scores are commonplace. Mostly, overwhelmingly, the home team is on the losing side of the ledger – 12-2, 12-1, 11-0, 10-1, 13-3 ... oof, 15-0.

They are awful and Williams and his teammates know it.

...

Williams, 26, says the rink, measuring 165-by-65 feet is unique (compared to 200-by-85 for the NHL standard and 200-by-98.5 for the Olympics). "It's honestly something you've probably never, ever seen before. You can step out from behind your own net, take a shot and have a legitimate scoring chance. The game is so fast you can shoot from practically anywhere and have a chance to score.

...

The [league] Wightlink plays in, Williams said, is similar in calibre to Junior A or the low pros. The key to success, he added, is the quality of each team's British players, many of whom have jobs on the side.

...

"But here they think if you keep the score under 10, you've done a great job. I don't think I'd ever lost by 10 in my entire life before I got here. ... If you score a couple of goals, keep the other guys under 10 and beat somebody up, they just love you."
Convinced yet?! :D

Haha, how awesome.

A shame EHM only has NHL and Olympic size. Would be cool to see players taking shots from all over the place :-)

Thank you all for the suggestions on what team to go with, but I actually just decided to do the NHL Draft to start my game and then go with the Wild as my team of choice.

Definitely not working from the bottom, but I am trying to create a dynasty to say the least.

Little bit of news on that, I lost the first game. Then I won the next 14 games after that, but now I lost 2 games and won 2 more.

Total record is, 16-3-0 as of right now.

Big surprise is that Recchi is 2nd in the league with points and he's on my team. Crazy, but the guy still has it I guess.

I figured that I would come by and update all of you on what team I decided to go play with and instead of just starting out at the NHL level as I did early on, I went with the Wightlink Raiders.

I can tell you right now, that the team is one of the hardest to actually build. It isn't so hard on account of the other teams having their own problems as well, but overall it is a tough job.

I currently am undefeated in the Cup race or whatever you start with when you begin playing and then I am tied for 2nd in the league with a record of 12-3-3-0-1 and to me that isn't bad, considering what I had to work with.

Plus, I was unfamiliar with the league rules and terms to begin with, but it looks like maybe I can lead the Raiders to glory down the road.

Off the top of my head, I believe in the default database the worst team in the ECHL would have to be the Victoria Salmon Kings. I remember when we were doing our official database upkeep behind the scenes, they were signing players that were listed with overall abilities in the 40's routinely.

The good thing, though, is that ECHL teams can have such a high turnover, you can turn a lousy ECHL team into a champion within one season or two if you're skilled enough.

I actually just got done with my first season with the Wightlink Raiders.

I finished 1st in the Cup race that goes on during the season and won that. Then I finished tied for 1st place in the season overall, but on account of the other team getting to a certain amount of points first, they got the regular season trophy.

Now, I went onto the playoffs and won the league championship as well.

Needless to say, I have to admit that it wasn't easy to build that team up, but if you do it right... you can win anything.
