I'm a bit confused. Is the left column number the rank that THN gave those players? And what is the number in parentheses?

Last year's rank. And really considering how subjective it has to be...the list ain't all that horrid. But noone could ever make a list without disagreement, so whatever. Luongo should be #1 anyway.

Please tell me #50 isnt the caps center backstrom... if so this list is a joke. Even if they are talking about the Goalie this is a joke. No way is he a top 75 player let alone 50.

Well I don't think Niedermeyer is on their either; probably because both are considering retirement.

Why is Backstrom on the list? And why is Brind'Amour higher than Kovalchuk? Normally THN's best players lists are better than this. Even an old UK magazine called Face-Off used to do this better.

I agree with ya, this is by far the worst top 50 lit I've ever seen THN release.

i dont how the team that wins the stanley cup can only have 2 players on it, is this list for next year? that wud explain why nieds and teemu aint on it, i wouldnt have parise on there, and if you have 1 sedin, you gotta have the other, otherwise they aint anythin, i wud have kovvy higher, boyle... meh. i wouldnt have him on there either
what does this go off? points? average rating (if so... who judges that)? 1st star selections?

I don't think they judge players based on stats or a points system, as in if you get so many points and +/- you get on the list. As far as I am aware the THN staff get together and just make the list based on their opinions.

It's a shame because I really like the newspaper and magazines they make, but this is just a horrible, horrible list.

And when they release a perfect list, I will jump off the bridge and live.
And when they release a perfect list noone will talk about THN. How often does anyone talk about The Hockey News? Right now hundreds of people are out looking for it, and cannot find it on the shelves of any store in Vancouver. Great publicity for them...sells a mag or two I guess.

I know they said bad publicity is good publicity, but i really dont tihnk that they wud make a rubbish list purposely, they wud get more respect of people like us discussing it here than us slating them for makin a rubbish list like they have,
Saranis = Maybe this is too do with bad publicity too, they are tryin to become the most hated Hockey News Magazine?

Well, last season he had the best GAA of the league (or one of the best) and was among the best goalies in % so I dont see any reason why he should not be on that list...
...but on the other hand: I was discussing a similar thing in another forum....a so called "ranks" or "best list" is always difficult to do because u would probably include somebody I wouldnt, right??
Hey, what is Shanahan doing in that list???

Looks like I've once again been robbed of the number one spot...
