				Getting Fighters to Fight

In one of my games, I have my 4th line devoted to just fighters. I have Brashear, Tibbetts, and Fritz as my fighters. Tibbetts and Fritz really have no business being in the NHL but I wanted to experiment with a tough guy line.
I have their personal tactics set to basically go out there and hit everything that moves, be extremely aggressive, and of course they're encouraged to fight. I have them check against the star players. They all have 18 aggression and 18 bravery.
Here are their stats 30 games into the season
Brasher 4 fights, 40 PIM
Tibbetts 1 fight, 13 PIM
Fritz 1 Fight, 15 PIM
What the heck is going on? I even set ice time to equal so that they could have more chances to fight.
None of my coaches have that great of discipline.
I don't know what else to do.

Could be that if you're playing them strictly against the star players they are never on the ice with anyone to scrap with. Try just letting em go out against any line and see if they start to tangle with the other teams enforcers.

I just thought of that, and for the next few games I'll have them check against other tough guys. If that doesn't work I just won't have them check anyone at all.

Yeah, Catchup nailed it right on the head. If they're matched against the other team's stars, they're not going to fight very often. If you have them matched to the other team's 4th line or don't match lines, they'll find fighting partners. When I have Hollweg set to "encouraged" fighting, he gets at least 17 PIM (fighting major, instigator, and 10 minute misconduct) almost every game. Some games he'll end up with 34.

I was wondering....In my games i'm not a big fan of fighting or have a goon in. But in my fourth season with the thrashers i've decide to experiment to have a goon or a good fighter in my team. The question is....if i've been dominate in a match or whatever did a fight can really change a match? Like put momentum on my side or just let the momentum for me? It's just a simple question but i just want to know how it works

And the others thing is that i'm not a big fan of Brashears or Laraque...in my team i have Burrows, Dingman, maybe Scatchard or Jason Smith who can drop the glove but who is the better for fighting or someone you think I should pick for my team?

  Thx you

It can change the momentum that is for sure. Either way. I find if my tough guy loses a scrap, it becomes very hard to compete and win.

Yeah i see....so if I want a big fighter I must be sure it's a good one that win almost all of it's fight. So I think i don't have what i takes in my team to do it lol

I will check for some good fighters in the league.

I've got John Trip, who besides being a good fighter, he has pretty good all around technical stats too. He doesn't rack up a ton of penalty minutes, but hes good for around 10 fights and wins almost all of them.

This is kind of a off topic thing but since its about fighters and such just starting my off-season with Barrie Colts OHl and i made a rule that i had to build within so like i can only bring in players from the import draft and selection draft no trades or anything... My question is i want to pick up an enforcer in the draft but what do u look for when u go to draft a enforcer? Aggression in like 17 or 18? any other attributes u look for?

I'm not super great for answer that kind of question but I will try. For me a great enforcer must have a good agressivity ( 15 or higher ), good hitting, good strengh and endurance and the determination and work rate for me is pretty important.

  So hope it help!

Yes over 13 is like the average for this overall for me. 12 is ok but under this number it start to be weak`a little bit.

Bravery is another one that can be good to have on an enforcer

Some enforcers are dumb as posts, and in junior finding one with all those attributes over 13....not so likely. I look for high agression, and high strength. Then I go from there to decide who is best.

Haha, i set Komisarek to fighting encouraged for a game and forgot about it for the entire season...
He ended the season with 2346 PIM...
He almost broke the top 10 in career PIM in a single season...Impressive!

And how many fights did he won? That's important. I think it's better not to fight than lose

Where did you get this statistics?

On your paper or somewhere in game?

Yeah if you scroll far right in any statistics page, it will show FI (Fights) and FW (Fights Won).

Just a quick point about the FI and FW stats.
Alot of people look at how many fight their guy has won and it ifs not 15 out of 20 they think he must be rubbish at fighting.
You have to remember that top enforcers only have a win rate of around 55% when you take into accounts draws etc.
Aslong as my main enforcer wins over half his fights I am happy he is doing a good job. He doesn't have to win 14/15.
If that makes sense.

Nice, I never knew that I could find out how many fights I won... I have a 4th line of Fritz, Jackman, Brashear (picked him up off waivers) and my team combined to have 10,000 PIM's in 1 season!

I've often wondered how much an enforcers "Influence" rating would come into play when it comes to swinging momentum back round in your favour and winning a fight. You would think this would "influence" the rets of your team to go on and win the game. lol
