If possible I always send my top prospects to the AHL or even back to Juniors if they still have eligibility left. They won't learn much by just practicing. Ice time is key, but if they're real young, and you do have them playing for your NHL Club, a lot of minutes could actually hurt them.

You should check out the Hot Prospects Thread that is stickied at the top of this Forum. http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... php?t=2660

It would depend on what you have in mind for them in the long term. If you have an older (22-25 years old) prospect that projects as a plugger and you need a spare part on the NHL roster or can rotate your 3rd or 4th line to keep him in game shape, keep him with the big club. Like Joe said though, if they are very young (18-21 year old) and project as more than a fringe player, get them ice time and greater responsibility in the AHL or back in juniors. It gets them used to shouldering a heavier load and carrying the offsense or defense for a team. Juniors tends to be a better choice as they are all about developement and they will be playing against guys their own age and (relative) skill level. JMO. Generally, unless they are of Crosby/Ovechkin/Tavares calibre, prospects will not be AHL ready until they are 19 or 20 and not NHL ready until they are 20+ depending on their talent and position (defensemen develop slower than fowards and goalies even more so). Hope this helps.

This thread is covered completely in about 20 places. Locked.

A forum search (magnifying glass) would have led you to the prospects thread where this is discussed thoroughly...or several other threads.

This not searching and just starting a new thread is happening too much again boys. It may be time just to delete posts and threads and not say anything about it unless we are asked.

Please search THOROUGHLY BEFORE STARTING A NEW THREAD. Thanks
