Seriously, whose regen is this?

So I traded up in the 2010 draft to draft this amazing young defenseman out the Quebec league. He has a consistency rate of 20 and is obviously wayyyyy too good for junior, but I don't have any roster room for him in Phoenix, so he'll be stuck in Moncton for a while.

Question is, whose regen is he? Could it be Scott Niedermayer, who I had set to retire in June 2007, even though I edited the 6'1" Niedermayer to be a RD before I started the game?

In case you can't see it, Lapointe is 6'2" and is a LD.

Wow! Solid prospect indeed!

I don't know who he is the regen of, but it sucks he has to stay in juniors. You should have make a deal to send away one of your regular defenseman to free up a spot for this young guy. He would learn so much more in at the NHL level and grow faster. Only my thoughts though.

Should be Scott regen... Or just a random generated player... Do you have any other great defenseman who retired in your game that should match with this monster prospect?

Tony Hand, all the great regens are regens of Tony Hand, no matter what position they play.

He showed up for the first time in the '07-08 season, right after Niedermayer's retirement and Niedermayer was the only big D that retired that off-season. Besides, Lapointe is a LD while Niedermayer was a RD, but perhaps regen defensemen are capable of changing sides while being created?

EDIT: Got an idea. I downloaded the saved game editor to check Lapointe's PA. It's 200 -- Niedermayer only had 180. So it's most certainly a randomly generated player.
