Does anyone know how to edit the schedule for the NHL or any other league?

I don't know for sure, but I don't believe schedules can be edited.

But why can you edit and add a team if you can't make a schedule for that team?

The schedules and leagues structures are hard coded. You will always have 30 teams in the NHL and 27 in the AHL. By removing one team and replacing it with another you're giving the new team the old team's schedule depending on which division / conference they are located.

The way Graeme talked about the schedules, it sounded to me like EHM's schedules are based on a "template" taken from the real-life schedule. And they simply get randomly generated by the game based on the templates.

Which is why we don't have the new schedule format for the NHL - SI wanted to wait till they had a normal version of the schedule(with All-Star game), and an Olympic year version of the schedule(big Olympic break, and no All-Star game) that the code could generate a schedule from for each situation.

I'd love to do that! In 2013 I got pretty tough 3-games-in-a-row January schedule, not quite sure who to dress/scratch of my 23 players' roster. It goes like this:
26/01 - ATL (Away),
28/01 - NYI (Away),
29/01 - MTL (Away),
30/01 - LA (Away)
... and 05/02 - Ducks (Home).
I'm leaning to rest all my team during that "Winter Marathon", but still a bit afraid of injuries despite having pretty young team (age of 24-26). Any ideas or strategies to survive this?

3 games in a row won't kill your guys, don't worry ;) I remember having a 5 games in 5 days horror week in one of my old games, and went 4-1-0 with no injuries. Well, not on my side, at least... :D

If you're really afraid for your guys, slow down the practice regime during this stretch of games, pay attention to their playing time during the game (so that they won't be too tired for the next game), and scratch them if they are under 90% conditionning on game day, with no practice (ie rest), so that they're ready for the following game. But normally, it should be okay ;)

Just look at the AHL schedules. 3 games in a row is something pretty common there, and guys survive ;)

---

Is it just me or is the schedule always starts against the same team and has one team you battle in the end of season... I've noticed in the challenge that all of my 3 seasons started against Nahsville, and all ended with 2 games against Detroit in the few games of April, with one of those games being one of the last 3 games. Should be just a coincidence, but that's 3 years in a row... Never noticed that before, but maybe just never paid attention to it.

3 games in a row? how about 2 games/day?
so I'm in my 3rd year with the Devils, the date is March 20 2009. my calendar shows a game at CAR. I start the game, win it 3-2, check the stats and klick on Continue.
now, guess what happens! the game takes me to the Roster screen and says NJ at PIT at the bottom right! What the Dickens! :-? I had to play the Penguins the same day! okay, I won 4-1 but I still think this sucks big time. how realistic is it to play a game in Raleigh and then another one in Pittsburgh the same day? :-D

It seems to me I am always playing games on the same days each year, but the team I play against is different. The game does seem to follow the old schedule format of only seeing each division in the other conference once every 3 years, but other than that, it's all random it'd seem.
