Just have founded out that 2014 draft is a very deep in talent. I'd say this draft year is, at least as strong as 2009 one.
A lot of 5 stars players, many 4 stars youngsters and I hope there is another Tavares there... Tully Aucoin looks like a franchise player and my scouts project him to be another P.Marleau.

The 2009 draft actually is a very weak draft; except for Tavares almost everyone else in that draft winds up being a bust. 2010 is the first really strong draft, especially with the Hasek, Cechmanek, Burke regens appearing as well as some other regens for guys that retired at or before year 1. From 2010 on, the prospects seem to have noticably better starting attributes, especially technical, but be aware that these can be deceiving because the overall potential doesn't seem much better than the 2007 draft. Also, always check the consistency rating for regens (on the information tab). That apparently says what percentage of the time they perform to their attributes. (1-20 scale). I would not draft anyone (at least not in the first few rounds) with a consistency below 12.

Actually, I took a swedish guy before Tavares. Not denying his talent but while Tavares was in the OHL the following year, that swedish guy (Billy Erickson) was in the NHL at 18. He was on my second line and got 56 points in 63 games. I have Frolov at LW but I am considering not resigning him and moving Erickson to first line (at 19). And Tavares, maybe he will play AHL next season.

I think it depends on the game's engine, besause in my game, 2010 draft is completely worthless (not even one clear first liner). Probably that's not the case in your game. Actually, the best ever for me was 2011, the year where Hasek regen comes up!!! Agree with you about consistency rating - it's very important, though not the only important thing in the draft.

After the hasek regen and maybe one or two others, my 2010 draft is useless. I'd like to see my 2014 draft soon.

If I have made myself clear, you will understand my original meaning - the draft at the end of 2013/2014 season looks really deep and that's might please those who loves drafting. After a very consistent T.Aucoin (IMHO, clearly a franchise player) my scouting reports has a group of promising power forwards, few starting goalies, some impressive offensive talent up front, few character defensive defencemen and lots of two-way players in general. That's my cup of tea! Looks like any player of the first 10-12 will be a very good choice for any team. Most players has a consistency level at 12 or more and look quite determined with no Daigles around. Moreover, many players rated between 30th and 90th are not bad at all and might eventually become decent 2nd liners down the road. And a cream of the crop - 6-3, 194 Czech RW might be a regen of J.Jagr. His attributes: very good mental ones (particularly, 20 in flair), phisycal and technical attributes mostly about 14+. He's rated 190th though and according to my scouts projected to be a 3rd liner Iginla with a slower stride. Diamond in the rough? Looking forward and stockpiling draft picks...6 days left...

If you're seeing consistency ratings for those draftees, then they're all regens... which means they're more than likely not in anyone else's game.

Once regen drafts hit, the players and their ability varies from game to game. So, a deep 2014 draft in one game could be a terrible 2014 draft for someone else.

Not only are the regens stats randomly generated except in a few areas (country, position, and some of the mental attributes like flair), causing everyone's game to be different from anyone else's game...but the original player regens are based on retires at different times in each person's game. This means that in each game a regen may be in the draft for a different season.

For instance, many people continue to report that Hasek is always in the 2010 draft. Well...he is not. I have seen him in posts as early as the 2009 draft (and in some games), and I have seen him in the 2011 draft as well. It varies from game to game. Clearly, in Crocker's game the 2014 had alot of guys who may have retired to form the draft of 2014, and make it strong.

Also Euros regen at age 16 I believe, and N Americans regen at age 14. So....if Hasek retires after the first season he is a 2010 draft, but if Chelios does you won't see him until 2012.
