Was meant to post this last weekend when he actually passed 3,000 points but I haven't had time!

Tony Hand got his 3,000th career regular season point last weekend in the 4-0 victory over Sheffield(which makes it even sweeter! :-D ). His career total points is now over 4,100 over his 26 year career. He first started playing professional hockey in the 81/82 season which would have made him 14/15 at the time!
At 40 he's still Manchester Phoenix's best player, arguably GB's best player and is currently 5th in the points total this season, with 12 points higher than the nearest british-trained rival

Us Brits don't make too many stars, but Tony Hand, truly 1 of the best GB born players ever, Steve Thomas is the other that jumps out, Owen Nolan too.

Congratulations to him!!! :groupwave: Many more to come :-p

From wiki article:
1991-92 started badly for Hand with an eight-game ban for a drug offence when a cold remedy gave a positive result for traces of ephedrine
Um yeah. Appears Tony learned something in Canada. Sudafed works! But is not allowed. When he would have been over here, there was likely a tub of it in the Oiler dressing room and many popped it like candy. Kind of like what the Oilers did after the games with different drugs.

And I know Tony was a legit prospect. But darn, what a chicken. Gotta take a chance to get somewhere Tony. Could possibly have made millions and turned it down because of 1 or 2 years at little money. Poor guy. At least he admits it was a mistake.

If only he had taken the chance we could've actually had a british trained player playing in the NHL...

And the only video I can find of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMpqoodkK4U :-D

That's probably why Gretzky never went to England... he didn't want to put everyone to shame. :-p

I once has 70 points in 30 games in Division 1 men's beer league here in Vancouver. I think that is the same as 200 pts in 55 games in a British hockey league. :-D

darn, I coulda been Tony Hand. :-D

Tony will be playing his 1,000th regular season game this weekend, if he plays in both games
