New Star Hockey

Any one noticed New Star Hockey?

New Star is an indy developer (I believe it's one guy), who is famous for NSS3, in which you are a young lad, who wants to become a soccer superstar. You can play matches, in which you play/control yourself, not the rest of the team.

Now a fellow developer made a simular game, where you can become a hockeyplayer, making your way to the top. To be honest, the soccergame is much better, and the hockeygame is still in Beta, and rather simple. No 2D matches, but a textgame However, I feel it has some addictiveness, so try if you like it. One tip: train stamina first.

Hope you like it.

I downloaded this and started playing it. I'm not sure I really understand what I'm supposed to do when your team has a game. I just kept hitting the play button.

I did run into an issue with a runtime error. I tried to click "statistics" after a game and it gave me the runtime error and booted me out.

Kay. My initial thoughts, after about half a season (out of which most games I was not dressed for, because of low stamina), I think it's a cool idea, but just not very fun to play.

Maybe the later versions will have more playability, but for now I just wish them good luck and stick to EHM.

I've actually been playing this a bunch today. It's got potential but right now I find it very frustrating. It's harder to complete a pass than it is to score a goal. I almost have to wonder if my player is a mite or some little kid. He loses the puck when he's skating up the ice with nobody around him. I also don't like having to play 2 or 3 games in a day or it it automatically taking me to the next day?

I'd really like to see these folks continue working on this game because it does have potential. It's just a little frustrating to play at the moment.

My tactics: start training to get stamina to 15-17. Max out training and lose stamina till around 10%. Make sure you won't get lower, or you get injured.

With stamina at 15-17 your stamina will grow even with training at hardest. Get used to the idea that you won't play a lot of games in season 1.

In game I:
- always take faceoffs, you'll get more possession
- shoot at around 20 ft or less
- pass when there are 2 or more defenders

Other things seem to be random.

The game is still rough: no difference between positions. You seem to be a forward. Detail is low, choices too. However, it does has potential -;)

New Star Soccer is pretty good fun and has come a long way since the first version. I'll definitely check out the hockey version. If it's anything like the "soccer" version then it certainly has potential.

I made it to the second season and after 1 game I can see a big difference. After training over the summer I've actually got some skills. I scored a hat trick in the first game of the second season and added an assist. Definitely take faceoffs but I wouldn't put too many skill points into it. Just do rapid clicking when the face off window comes up. I had only 2 points in faceoffs and still won most of them.

I know this is a old thread but I wanted to get my two cents in. I'm trying this game, and I have to say this is what I envision every single Career based game out there to be like, allthough this is quite simple and basic looking it really is better than some of the major game devlopers creations. I mean they don't realize that players have a life on and off the field/ice. This game depicts this nicely though and If I were a major game devloper the concepts in this Career based game are something I would really by into.

The off ice aspects of the game interesting but when I played the game last (back in January) it was still pretty buggy and really needed a lot of work. At a certain point it felt like I was just always clicking "next".

The Game may be a bit buggy but I can only imagine how this would look all cleaned up and features expanded and imporved, this game has many concepts and features that I wish would be added to games such as Sony's MLB: The Show title,it would certainly make games like that that offer a career mode of some sort, look even better.

i wish Be A Pro for NHL 09 has some of these elements but i doubt it. Are any of you guys still trying this game? I don't like it because you can't similate anything. It will take forever to play a full career.

Yup, same here Dave, too much mouse clicking for my liking. I think the match engine is flawed. I hated playing games, and wish they would allow us to just simulate games or have maybe just one or two breakaways / important decisions to make during a match, and not thruout the whole game, everytime your guy gets the puck.

although i think NSH is a miss, NSS4 looks great....and even has a 3D engine. Now, if only i liked soccer. lol

EDIT: I tried out the demo of NSS4 and it seems very strange they chose to change the city name of each team instead of the team name (ex. Turonto FC) Quite an odd desision. They also did that with all leagues, conferences names etc. I guess that makes it easier to edit, if there is an editor.?

My apologies if this is my misunderstanding, but it looks like you are trying to obtain a pirated/illegal copy of the game. This is not permitted on our forums. Please no more requests like this (but please do correct me if I have misunderstood).
