EHM The Blue Line

Hey guys, quick question for you all.

I'm doing a fantasy draft game as the Wild, and this season (10-11), I'm finding myself having some really solid depth at center, and some average depth at wing.

Here are my current lineups... using TBL:DB updated.

St. Louis - Crosby - Gaborik
Kotalik - Lecavalier - Kurt Kingston
A. Kostitsyn - Tavares - Vermette
Robbie Rempel - Stamkos - Tarnasky


Obviously, I've got some decent players, but it seems my 1st line is the only line that gets awesome results. The 2nd line produces, but its not as good as some of them do when on the 1st line.

I've got two questions for you all.

1. Is there a way to set custom time on ice for these lines? I'd like to try to get them all a fair amount of time, without taking my 4th line completely (The Just Three option?)

2. I'm at the cap, well, 900k short. Any suggestions as to if I should move some of the players on this list? If you need more info, lemme know.

This is my first game I've played longer than 1 season, and I've only been playing a few months, here and there. I raised the cap to 50 mil in this game.

IIRC you can edit the time a line is on the ice by using unit tatics (well its editing the shift time) its from 0-90 (or 120), not entirely sure though.

The shifts can be 20, 30, 40, 60, or 90 seconds long.

Don't wonder why your top line has such good results. It's not just a first line, but an All-Star line!

As for the icetime distribution, you should play with the shift lengths and the line-matching to find what you want.

About your cap concerns, although it's slightly off-topic regarding the thread title, i should say that you will have to let some players go later on. Lecavalier comes first on my list. He is a number one star center, so it's a pain to see him on a second line. And Tavares will probably be ready for second line duties in the next season, so you should let Lecavalier go, or trade him during the off-season. If you're under the cap right now, don't change anything I don't see how you should not win the Cup with such big forwards lines, no matter who your goalies and defensemen are.

There's no setting that lets you choose how much ice time a line will get per game (like 18 minutes for the top line guys and 15 for the second liners). You have to get things where you want by adjusting the shift lengths, as suggested above, and line usage (normal, equal,just 3 lines, just 2 lines). I like to make sure my third and fourth line guys are on the PK to make sure they get ice time (if they've got the skills for defensive play).

how about playing a 3 line use 40 seconds ice time each ?

It's hard.

I've tried adjusting the ice time per shift limits; doesn't work overly too well.

I've tried playing 4th line vs 3rd, 2nd vs 1st, etc etc. I recommend only doing that if you have a quality bottom 6. It works even better in terms of ice time.

One thing I've noticed though is that if you view the game itself instead of just simming, with modified ice time settings, 4th liners get between 7-8 minutes. 3rd liners are 10-12.

maybe you should trade Lecavalier and Gaborik for a right wing star. Because having 2 great firsts lines doesn't work that well and it will give more time for Tavares*

*in lidas 2008-2009 1.1, tavares had 110 pts in the 2 lines in his rockie season
