Too Many Points (Goals and Assists) in game?

In all my games in EHM there has been at least 60 players with at least a point a game, and 15-20 with 100plus points at the end of the season. Is this happening with all your games too because this is really unrealistic. This is so important in the game and its very off. (Even EA fixed it in theirs with NHL 07 and NHL08) Is there any way to make it realistic because its just makes me not want to play the game even though i love everything else

No it has never happened in mine actually. Very few ever get that high. Guys on my team do, but the others stay realistic.
In my 2011-2012 season with Chicago, Heatley and Hossa reached points in 120 range, and Mike Richards was over 100. There were only 2 other guys with over 100 (Kovalchuk and Ovechkin) and only 1 with 50 goals other than my two gunners (Kovi).
So not sure what is happening with you. Are you using a database with edited players?

I haven't really noticed any outrageous stats in any of my seasons.

Joe Thornton just had the most points I've ever had a player get, 155. But everything else seems realistic enough for me....Except my dam PK which I can never get right, but thats my own fault

I'm not sure if my PP is dominant, but it is no way near as bad as my PK, Thorntons last season 82 games 63 goals 92 asissts 155 points +68 and an average of 9.41, but as I said thats the most I've had or seen in any of the games I've played, although his lines mates are Ovechkin and Michalek,:-D suprisingly though Ovechkin Didn't score as many goals as Joe, only 59, even though I told Joe not too shoot as much. But my oh my I would love a good PK, i just can't seem to find the right formula.

I one of the online leagues I play Iginla (in 05) had 220 pts! Nobody else came close to him I don't think, but, Iginla went insane. Over 100 goals, never seen anything close to that before or since.

Generally I have about 10-15 players in the league with ppg average... maybe 3 or 4 above 100....

There is a lot of 100+ players in my game. My best player Gaborik isnt even in the top 25 and he almost spot on a 1 ppg player.

In my 2009-2010 season Trashers, Kovalchuk scored 186 points and Forsberg scored like 120 assists, ill see if I can find a screenie.

It's not that hard for my players to go over 100 points and most of the time. I'd say in the first 13 seasons.
I usually have 3 to 4 players go over 100 points for the season. Sometimes I can get a 5th, but that is rare as I tend to not give my other lines that much time on the ice.
Aside from that, I do notice that other players in the league are right there with me all the time. It's not like I just run away with the season and the trophies in the end of things.
There are always people up there like Crosby, Thornton, and others. But then again, Crosby is the only legit player in the game that I haven't landed on the team just yet.
I still have Ovechkin since the start of my game. Then I have had Kovalchuk for the past 7 seasons, just picked up Lecavalier in free agency this past offseason. Then I have also had Eric Staal on the team for the past 7 seasons, but he rarely goes over 100 points, although he heated up in the past few.
The biggest surprise to me was Gaborik. I landed him after he was a free agent and he's been with me for 5 seasons. He has hit over 100 points in each of his seasons and is on his way to over 100 again this season.
Finally, I have Malkin on the team and that guy is awesome with Ovechkin on the line. I have had him for 9 seasons and he hasn't went below 115 points in any of them.
All in all, the game can be crazy at times, but from what I have noticed. I have never had anything like this happen to me that has happened to you, it would be nice to see some screen shots.

There's usually a handful of players that hit 100+ points...nothing urealistic. Even more that hit a PPG rate. As I said in another thread. Ovechkin scored 71 goals in the last season (in 76 Games) after the Caps signed Crosby.

there are about 5 players that get 100 plus points in real life...well not this year but normally. In EHM there are 10-15 plus 20-30 players with 90.
Have any of you played NHL 07 and simmed a season...you would end up with rediculous stats. Now in NHL 09 they fixed it. EHM stats are way off evven more then NHL 07. I don't think it is just my game because it happens with every new game i play.
i've looked for a screenshot of the endseason player points leaders in the NHL but i couldn't find one. Could anyone give me a link? thanks

Dear Dave,
If you play EHM realistically this really is not the case. Alot of people play with just three lines, and alot even two lines.
If you play it the way it should be played...it is not true that 10-15 people always end up with 100 points. I have played many a season where noone or just 1 person does.
Yes in TBL challenges I get guys up to 100 pts a fair bit..but that is only because of how I GM/coach for them
When you make trades galore and make superstar teams..you often get 4-5 guys on your own team with 100. The AI compensates for that, as it would in any sim game, and other teams start racking up the points. Why? Because having one team with 5 guys over 110 points, and noone else .... would be COMPLETELY unrealistic. At least if some do get high point totals, players from other teams do as well.
This game is likely the most realistic hockey game ever. And any, and I mean any comparison to anything by EA sports, or any silly old hockey arcade game...leaves EHM on top by 20000 miles.
So...since his is the second thread you have talked about EA in...I will let you know there is an EA NHL thread here in general discussion. Or..you can go to an EA site.

batdad, i only mentioned EA to help you understand what i was talking about. Im sorry i guess i didn't explain myself clearly.
I am not talking about my team specifically, I am talking about the "League Leaders" stats section. I look at it at the end of a season and that is where there are so many players with too many points. (i sim a majority of my seasons)
Don't get me wrong i love this game. Ive been playing this for a couple years now and there is no other game i have played even close to same amount of hours as i have this one but i was just trying to understand why the stats were so off.

The stats aren't so off... Some years you see 10-15 players over 100 points. Pretty rare in recent years, but we'll probably re-occur sooner or later. In the same time, we've seen guys going over 200 pts in real life (okay, just one guy

) while most of us never seen it in EHM... Does it mean the game is corrupted? Come on!...
And by the way, stats can never be exactly, nor even close of what they are in real life. It's a game. It's tons of algorithms and maths. Not skates, sticks and pucks. So it can't match perfectly. Else it would mean that the sport is predictable by stats, which it is absolutely not.

so your telling me that your stats are similar to this:
http://tiny.cc/G7gDE
the top 15 : 80 points plus
EHM top 15 : 97 points plus
the top 30 : 72
EHM top 50 : 74

Also the SI guys have said several times in the past that simming will not get you the most accurate game statistically.

Nope, my stats are not looking like the real life stats. Neither are the standings, the trades made in the league, the coaches and GMs fired/hired, the scores of each single games, the time of the goals, the number of penalty minutes, the attendances, or the number of sodas and beers sold during intermissions.
It's a game

Not real life hockey. If we were seeing players with 150 goals and 400 pts, i could say there's a problem about the realism. But 10 guys over 100 pts instead of 2 isn't a game breaker IMO.

thanks for your answer. That may be why the stats are alittle off because i do quick sim all my games.
To Shadd666 reply: your a funny guy..but it doesn't look like you actually read my posts at all. i too don't think it is a gamebreaker. like i said before i have been playing this game for more then a year and it still is my favourite game to play. All i wanted to know was if the stats were SLIGHTLY off in everyones games and i got my answer.
Thankyou to all of you helped answer my question.

Sorry, but i've seen so many stuff in the past, especially on SI boards, saying that those little differences were a game breaker, blah blah blah, that i feared you were about to start the same things. I'm glad to see it's not the case
That being said, yes, stats are slightly off for everyone. And there are several reasons why you should end with differences in stats. Players and staffs movements, injuries, tactical options (there are way more in real life, obviously), changes of momentum during a season (you can feel it in the game, which is already superb, but it can't be 100% accurate), and tons of stuff like that. Plus, the fact of simming doesn't help either to have the most accurate stuff, as mentionned above.
In fact, it's nearly a miracle that the algorythms are producing stats so close of the reality, when so many parameters have to be taken into account! Well... no... not a miracle... It was a darn hard work made seriously.

Just a reminder for this discussion:
At the time of the last patch it was anticipated that the goals/game ratio would increase due to the rule changes after the lockout. They did, but since then the goal totals have gone down quite a bit.
The goals/game is usually between 6 and 6.2 in EHM while this season it was 5.4 in the 07-08 NHL season!! Do your math and don't complain...

That's likely your problem. selecting "All" instead of "Quick Sim" will give you a much more realistic game.
