Hi guys.
Just bought a new notebook with MS Vista. After installing all kinds of software the whole afternoon, I finally wanted to start to play EHM, but after the installation the game doesn't even boot
Does anyone of you know of any conflicts of EHM and Vista?
Cheers

Yeah, cheers dad. ;)
Somehow this site has become my first choice regarding EHM - I don't visit the SI site as often as I did when the game was still alive.
Anyway, I found a solution and can continue to lead Washington to the SC. 8-)

Out of curiosity, what was your solution? It might be useful for others wanting to upgrade to Vista.

I followed Phil's advice by starting the game as administrator, i.e. right-clicking on the icon and selecting the option "start as administrator". Worked! :-D

Woody19, you might want to actually see if you the eLicense Control Panel works in Vista as well. You know, just incase you have to do that and then erase your computer at anytime or whatever.

You can do that by viewing the control panel on the computer, it'll be in there or you can just right click on the game icon and choose to uninstall it. Make sure you are connected to the internet though, that will allow it to be put back on your account to use for a later time.

Anyway, check that out and if you see it doesn't work. Then email eLicense about it, they'll send you the download patch for it.

I know this is totally random, but I figured if you got Vista, you might want to see if it works. I got Media Center 2005 on one of my computers and eLicense didn't work on that computer, I had to use that patch and boom, it worked.

Thanks for your advice, but e-license worked fine

No problem and I'm glad to hear that it worked. I just didn't want to see that problem arise for anyone.

Thanks for the tip on the whole Vista issue. I just upgraded my laptop to Vista Ultimate and needed to find this before downloading EHM in order to see if it would work or not.

You have to find your order ID, which was e-mailed to you when you bought the game. If you have your order ID, then just download the game, click on 'license' and enter the number in the box. If you don't have your order ID, then you will have to contact the e-license support at http://www.elicense.com/usersupport/supportreq.htm

It's working fine on my older computer which has 3.0.4 installed as well.

ps. it tried to look for a similar thread but couldn't find one

You have to right click on the icon and click Run as Administrator.

You only need to do this once, and now it should work fine.

:-k I'm thinking... General EHM Chat -->

I got a new notebook with Vista.... I am trying to run EHM not in Full Screen mode.

However, when I unclick Full Screen Mode, I got an error message: "unable to initialize graphics in windowed mode. Please ensure the available desktop is larger than 1024*768"

When I check my display, the resolution is at 1280*800

Any ideas?

I got the same problem a while back.

Just right click the shortcut on the desktop and click "properties" and as target it should say:

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Games\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\ehm2007.exe" -small_screen -windowed
Found it in this thread:

3.0.4 Patch Won't Work

I recently installed EHM 2007 on my new laptop. The game works fine, until I install the 3.0.4 patch. It works with the 3.0.3, but when I install the 3.0.4 patch and try to open the game, it says "In order to finish initializing, this application must first be run by a user with administrator privileges. Please contact your system administrator for help. 5-4". Any one know a fix for this? I'm running the game on Vista, if that has anything to do with it.

Right click on the shortcut and click Run as Administrator.

Hey

I just got a new laptop and I'm getting an administrative error when I install the 3.04 patch. The full version of the game is installed and is licensed properly, and works when I dont have the patch installed.

Any ideas?
