Okay everyone! We're about to launch Challenge #10 with the Phoenix Coyotes. As I'm sure you know, our challenges are always evolving. The more experienced everyone gets at EHM, the more challenging we have to make these challenges. So we've got some new rules for this latest challenge. I'll give a very brief rundown of these changes BUT if you are going to participate in the challenge you MUST re-read the challenge rules in their entirety. The rules are in 5 sections at the top of the Challenge Forum. They are...

Understanding and Gaining Entry to a Challenge

Challenge Setup and Gameplay

Challenge Stats Recording

Official Scoring & Second Season and Beyond

Roster and Trade Regulations

I've linked all 5 sections of the rules right here, so there should be no claims that you couldn't find them. There's several changes to the rules but we also had some issues in the last challenge where people didn't really read the rules, they just "skimmed over" them. I don't want to beat a dead horse (but I love to use the :deadhorse: smilie!) but we want this to be fair for everyone.

Okay, so on with a summary of the new rules...

* Total Challenge Deadline - Allows users to play at their own pace and also allows people to join the challenge late.

* Minimum Number of Users - Must have 4/season for stats and awards

* Database - There is no longer a choice in which database to use. You must use TBL Roster Update 1.5 if you want to participate in the challenge.

* TBL Budget - Changed to account for the higher salaries in TBL Roster Update 1.5

* UFA signings - No UFA signings in season 1! After that, UFA's may only be signed in the off-season.

* No Trade Period - It now runs from July 15- October 15

* Homegrown player eligibility - We've clarified the rules some and tweaked it a bit. Read up on this one very carefully!

* Core Roster Games Played Requirements - We've raised the minimums some.

* No Trade/No Budget (NT/NB) challenge option - As discussed in the preview. Read the full rules for more info.

* Draft picks and trading - You must keep your own 1st round pick now. Also, you're not allowed more than 2 picks in any round. No more stockpiling picks!

Okay, that should give everyone an idea of what's in store for this challenge. PLEASE! Read the 5 challenge rule sections I linked to in the post before moving forward. If you have any questions, please discuss them here.

When posting screenshots for injured players, please be sure to post these with your end of season stats. That is when we're checking to see if your core players have played their required number of games (or minutes for goalies). That's when we would look for your screenshot as proof of injury, excusing not meeting the requirements.

Thanks!

Okay..quick note for OLD SCHOOLERS:

Not sure if it is in the major rules or not, but please post your PLAYERS IN AND OUT at

1. 20 game stats reporting
2. end of season stats reporting.

We need it at both points in order to verify your rosters for scoring in the challenge.

thanks

I just wanted to put a reminder out to everyone...

When you take your screenshots for the challenge, please make sure that you are either playing in full-screen mode or if you are playing in windows mode that you get the whole window of EHM. We must be able to see the whole EHM screen with nothing obscured (if you want to blur your name or something, that is okay). We've had some cases where the date is out of view. We need to make sure that these screenshots are from the proper time in EHM. Also, make sure that you are taking your screenshots at the appropriate time. If they are the screenshots for the 40 game reporting period, make sure that is when you are taking them. Don't take them 45 games in. These things need to match up so that we know that everyone is following the rules and every challenge participant is getting a fair shake.

Also, I just want to mention again... players in and players out screens for Old School rules are needed at the 20 game mark. NTNB players need to post these screens at every reporting period. No exceptions! :nerd:

Okay...POSTING THIS RULE HERE:

No matter what system for the challenge you are using, you CANNOT USE more than 2 draft picks per round...

This is clearly defined in the roster/trade regulation thread.

7. New: You may not acquire or use more than 2 draft picks per round of the draft. This includes your own pick. So the maximum # of picks in a 7 round draft will be 14, 2 first round, 2 second round, 2 third round...
This is the case regardless..with only one way out..if the team has 3 picks in that round from the original 1.5 database...ie 2008 Phoenix has 3 picks in round two I believe.

So...in season 1, you already have 2 first round picks, and 2 second round picks. You have to be VERY careful if you are making deals, or their will be penalties.

The penalties will be decided upon and placed here.

They will be graduated penalties...more severe as time goes on, since draft picks are to help your team later. Max 4 years.

Those who use more 1st rounders than allowed will have heavier penalties than those who use more 6 rounders.

PLEASE be sure you only use 2 picks per round.

Draft Screenshots are now required...when you post your roster for the next season. Regardless of whether or not you are using a HG from a draft. Must be posted.

Thanks
