i dont know where else i could post this and i used the search function.

i need some help with trading because i dont really know what im doing and mostly i ask to much.

i currently have rafalski on a 6 million dollar p/y contract until 2011 (now im in july 2008)

i find him grossly overpaid seeing i have lidstrom(1year 5,1M NTC) and chara(2years 7,5) as my main defenders.

what is the best way to trade away rafalski.
im 2.7 over 50M.
and my main needs are wing prospects and maybe 1 5-6 line defender.

EDIT:
(my best talented youth are... Sam Gagner C/RW, Vitaly Karamnov C, Ian Cole LD/RD, Nikolai Lukyanchikov RD, Drew Doughty RD, Cody Hodgson LW/C, Evan McGrath C, Bagdan Kiselevich LD/RD, Josh Dadic C, Thomas Frazee C, Jakub Kindl LD and Igor Grigorenko RW.)

if you need them i can also post screenshots :)

Set your team needs so you get appropiate offers, then offer to all. Pretty simple really. :-D

Good luck!

Most of the offers are pretty bad generally, so you have to negotiate over and over before finding a deal with a team. Take a look at opponent GMs feedback about the ongoing deals, tit will give you a good idea of wether or not there's a chance they accept the offer.

But even if the first offers aren't good, the strategy of setting your team needs and offer your guy to everyone shows you who are the teams willing to negociate over in such kind of deals. However, don't hesitate to try to negociate with another team if they have THE player/prospect you really want the most. Sometimes you'll be able to find an agreement.

It's all about finding the right partner for negociations and negociate the right deal from his point of view, without loosing your own interests. Not an easy task, but clearly an interesting one 8-)

You're just gonna have to take the time and go through the teams and see of you can come up with deals that you like. That's the way it goes. There's no magic answer.

Here's what I do when looking to trade.

1) Figure out what I need. Winger, Centre, etc..
2) Go to player search
3) Select attributes to show
4) Pick the attribute I am most interested in, (positioning, slapshot, speed, etc...)
5) Look at the best ones, and see their other attributes
6) Look at their salary, length of current contract, age, past history, availability and bio
7) If I find one I like, approach the team to trade.

If you have a very good player to trade off, pretty much any team will do a deal. Depending on who you want though.

Doing it this way I have found some very good players that are not paid much, and have the attributes I am looking for. This is the easiest way I know to find players I need.
