Contract Bug (50k or less)

In my game I just picked up Malkin and his yearly salary is 49k. What the Dickens? I mean its why I picked him up, but still. How did this happen and why?

Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I am using the orginal lineup, but its patched up current.

ITs a glitch in some cases that occurs when guys get the maximum contract and then get moved. I thought that this was solved for 3.04 but not 100% on that. May want to look at your database.

How do I go about looking at my database? I'm fuzzy on that. :)

And whats the maximum contract?

What I know about coding I could write in a matchbook, with crayon.

Its a bug. But now I know you are going to max players out and then trade em, then get em back. I just know it.

lol

Meh, I don't have the inclination to do that. My leafs team are already winning cups regularly I don't need to cheat. ;)
Not to say I'm not tempted....

I'm guessing what Batdiddy is saying: may want to make sure you have the latest patch 3.0.4

Not sure what the max is, but when you go over it, the numbers sort of zero out and this is what happens.

If it's not a patch thing (I can't remember either), not sure if there's much you can do about it. Unless the Saved Game Editor has the ability to edit wages. Not sure about that either. I'm more of a Pre-Game Editor guy.

I remember there was a discussion about this before, but I have never tested this out myself.

This bug happens when the player contract is over 10M per year. The game can't handle it and the number becomes 49k or wutever it maybe. You mentioned that you have it patched up to current, so I am assuming the cap is at 51.3mil (or was it 50.3? can't remember now. The number of interest is now 55 - 56... hehe...) and 20% of that is just over 10mil. Again, this is untested.... I've never tried a cap over 50 mil.... So maybe I am totally wrong

I raised the cap to 56 mill, I donno if that has anything to do with it.

If you have the cap at 56, it should be the problem if my theory is correct. You can try it with your own players. Try to offer someone the max salary and see if the same happens. Given Malkin character in the game, I wouldn't be surprised that he asked for 10+ mil salary.

OK, I'll try it out and see what happens.

Thanks for the info!

I've had it happen many times in my games, when a guy gets an extension midway through the season and then the next season, bam, 50k a year. It only happens to great players who get fat contracts, but I never thougth about this maximun salay thing. Thanks!

I've rejected awesome trades because I was getting a superstar making 50k a year for the next three years, it just didn't seem right...

Yeah, when I start my next season I'm going to renew his contract and give him a proper salary, then trade him away. He's not actually helping my team much. Tavaras is unhappy cause he's on second line now, gotta keep Tavaras happy.

However I am currently in the middle of defeating the Zulu. I Just got rid of Hannibal and the Incas, now its Shaka's turn.

im pretty sure it happens sometimes when you give your player the maximum contract....it doesn't happen everytime though. It recently happened to me when i offered my star player 10M/season for 4 years, the next season came along and i was below the salary floor :@

Just an FYI, you don't have to have edited the salary cap for this scenario to occur.
I noticed in my 2013/2014 season that Kovalchuk is making 49k/y for the Thrashers... I haven't touched the salary cap.

What database are you using? Because any of the TBL DB's have edited caps already in them. The only one that does not...is the original db. It is the only one you can be assured of not having financials changed in any way. So if you are using that...interesting. If not, not surprised.

I know if the cap is raised from what the game is defaulted to then you will have this problem.

malkin crosby contracts 50,000 p/y

At first I noticed Kovalchuk with a contract, 50,000 for 2 years and I thought it was a one time glitch.
But now I'm noticing other top star players getting similar contracts

I'm in the 2014 season and currently
crosby
malkin
gomez
nash

all have contracts around 50,000 for 2-3 years.
The only thing I've changed was caps at 58.3 mill and they've been steady there since the 2nd season.
Of the players above, they have previously had 9-10 mill contracts.

What the Dickens?

Did you adjust how the contracts/finances are displayed, ie weekly?

Sometimes a screen shot will help us figure out what could have happened. You can upload one to this site and then link to it.

This is a commonly known bug. If the offer goes beyond 8 500 000 (I think?), the contract will be only 50 000.

Nothing you can do about it. Just take it as part of the game, and don't offer such high contracts yourself. Let the CPU have this little advantage. :dunno:

Thanks Tasku, It's been a while since I played and I hadn't heard of that bug. Wow, that's crazy. :dunno:
