That family is just bad news...

I suppose his sons have inherited his temper instead of his skills.
Fail to see what it has to do with the NHL though.

Yeah, it's junior hockey but this is where all of the current season talk has been, so I stuck it here instead of creating a new thread.
Or if you want me to make it fit... it's related to Patrick Roy, who was recently honored by the Montreal Canadiens. They retired his number Saturday and both of his sons were there.
Either way, I didn't think it was worth it's own thread.

Chicken soup? connected? You tell me how buddy...since everything is connected. Please explain....but open a new thread already..
actually I will. The chicken soup/kitchen sink thread. If you cannot find it in hockey talk...put it there.

Noone likes Chicken Soup it is now: The Kitchen Sink thread

This thread is dedicated to B72, and Archi the mod and admin who are least likely to stay on topic. All items about the sport of hockey that are somehow connected to the NHL, and not connected to the British or Euro leagues...go in here.
Now...we may have to help these two in determining what goes in this thread, so CatchUp, D88, BStinson, Tasku, Calv, Shadd and I will all be sure to transfer what they "think" is connected to the NHL to this thread for them...
Ah, this is gonna make B72 madder than when I slam Tim Thomas. Wahoo!!!

by bruins72
Nope. Not mad at all. Just wondering what the heck you're talking about with chicken soup?

A random thing unconnected to the NHL..yet you said everything is connected. I guess maybe too random for ya?

Random...did not want to use kitchen sink...so went completely random...Chicken soup came to me.

Wow, a random topic thread that already has gone off-topic. But I can see B72's, what the heck about the Chicken Soup thread name. And I can also see Batdad's point, chicken soups, as all soups, can be very random.

I suppose the connection between chicken soup and the NHL would be that both chicken, soup and Joe Thornton are made out of atoms?

The players maybe eats a lot of chicken soup, that's a theory as well.
Well this is getting more and more something that can get into the Trash Talk thread.

Okay okay....The Roy family. And I will change the name to the Kitchen Sink thread.

Well the Roy boys seems to like to fight and play dirty. But Patrick was one of the best goalies in NHL ever, if not the best.
But those two boys really need to work on their aggression and focus on their playing skills instead.

A recipe for a kitchen sink?

Like I said in the other thread, Patrick's kids seem to have inherited his hot temper instead of his natural talent.
Not suprising though, agression seems to pass on from father to son alot more often than athletic talent does. I mean how many sucessful father-son combinations has there been in hockey or sports in general, not very many as far as I know.
Bobby and Brett Hull is the only one I know of, I think I've read that Gordie Howe's sons where pretty talented somewhere though.

What about the Steens? Tomas passed at least a little talent to Alex.

Alexander could, at best, be described as an average NHLer. Dad was a star for his team, Alex will never be that.
Edit: Just remebered Peter and Paul Stastny, real hockey family that.

Yeah, I know but I also noticed two things before I wrote that comment:
Batdad's last change for the thread name:

Selne's reply:

So this was the Kitchen Sink Thread before Selne replied, even though 'Chicken Soup' is still in the title.
We swedes knows about a father-daughter(s) combination, even though it's not hockey, instead athletics/track and field, in Anders Kallur and Jenny and Susanna Kallur, especially Susanna.
But it seems to be hard to find any in NHL other then those you've already mentioned.

MArk Howe was an all star. Great player actually. Ray Ferraro-Landon Ferraro.
The entire Sutter family and their offspring.

Finally a more fitting name!
Yeah, the Roy boys really did seem to get their dad's temper. Not a good thing. Speaking of goalies with tempers... let's hope Belfour doesn't pass his down to any kids he may have.
I'm having a hard time thinking of any other fathers and sons in the NHL where the son was anywhere near as good as the father. No others come to mind. Ray Bourque has a couple sons. One is a teenager right now and the other is in the Capitols system (not sure if he's back on the farm or with the big team right now). Still, Chris Bourque isn't in the same realm as his dad and never will be. I hear Ryan Bourque has more of his father's demeanor but he's still pretty small and it's too early to tell if he'll develop into an NHLer. As for other Bruins greats... I remember Ken Hodge's son Ken Hodge Jr played for the Bruins for a bit back in the 90's. He had one really good season, 30 goals and 29 assists, and then played very little in the NHL after that.
