In EHM Finland, we have discussed to found an address, which requests Sega and SI to release the new official patch to NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007. Now I have made that address. I ask you to not cheating in this! If you have an account on another EHM site I ask you to spread the word. It don't take much time to write your name.

http://www.adressit.com/ehm2007

Edit: Oh, I forgot to translate some words:

Etunimi = First Name
Sukunimi = Surname
Paikkakunta = Region, City, District or something like that
Sähköpostiosoite = E-mail adress
Sähköpostiosoitteen näkyvyys = who are allowed to see your e-mail adress
Adressit.com:n ylläpito = Adressit.com's administrators
Adressin tekijä+ylläpito = The adress' author (I) and administrators
Näkyy kaikille (julkinen) = everybody can see your e-mail adress
Saako nimesi julkistaa netissä = Do you allow your name to be published on the Internet
Kyllä = Yes
Ei = No

Note: Only those fields which are marked with star (*) are required to be filled in.

Edited thread to title to be more descriptive. Please be more descriptive with thread titles

Sure, I'll sign.

The site is in Finnish. On the left side are the following boxes to fill:

Etunimi: Firstname
Sukunimi: Surname
Paikkakunta: City
Sähköpostiosoite: Email (not required)

"Sähköpostiosoitteen näkyvyys" can be left at it's default setting. This means your email will only be visible to the host site.

If you wish to give permission to show your full name in the internet, leave the next tick box at "Kyllä". "Ei" means you do not wish your name to be shown.

(Edited topic name to make it more descriptive.)

I have also signed

Although i fear that our efforts will most likely count for nothing, as i dont see SI helping out a "lost cause" for a bunch of hungry hockey fans. :-D

You'd generate a lot more responses if it was in English.

Unfortunately I don't see us getting the chance of releasing any further official patches/updates or new versions for the NHL Eastside Hockey Manager series as we know it, so development on the game is still indefinitely on the injured reserve :(

However, it is nice to see these petitions being signed by people. Hopefully one day we can again do something with EHM again in one form or another. There is also a "Bring back Eastside Hockey Manager" group in facebook as well, so feel free to join in if you happen to come across it :)

Nice to hear that it's "on the injured reserve", which means it could possibly be back some day?

Or maybe the injury is a career ending injury? :cry:

Good to see you pop-by, Riz.

Did you sign the petition? :-D

Great to hear from you Risto! :thup:

I hope that EHM just got a torn MCL or ACL and that it will be back soon, even tough it will take a few more years, as said hope dies last! :)

I've now joined that Facebook group anyway and I saw that Risto is a member of it. :D

Yeah let's wish some day, soon, it's gonna come back! Right now we're manually updating it, but i doubt that in 2-3 years update like Lidas is doing will be that fun...

Career ending injury ? I think not :-p

Like I've always said, I'm pretty sure some day there will be another EHM game. However as I've also said, I'm currently nicely settled at SI with the FM project so I've got a good day job doing what I like (even if it is a different sport).

But eventually, the East shall rise again, one way or another :-D

Just curious but did you retain the rights to EHM? What about the code in the latest version of the game? If you were to release a new version of EHM someday, would it have to be done via SI or would you be able to do it on your own as a solo project? And if you were able to do it on your own, would you have to start from the ground up or would you be able to use the existing code? I'm just thinking that if you were able to take the game as it is, remove all references to anything licensed (fake everything), and then take out some of the hard-coded limitations (league structures having to stay the same, fixed start date, and some others), you'd have a game that I'm sure all die-hard (everyone who is still looking for a new EHM) fans would open their wallets for. Then the fan community could make whatever databases they want (like ones that would included the unfaked NHL and such).

Anyhow, since you were poking your head in here and saying "hello", I figured I'd ask.

Next time you release the game, try marketing in hockey's birthplace :joy:

Now that would be sweet. :):):) A more customizable game that would be more realistic when customized. Imagine playing a 1967 database or maye 1955.... I'm practically wetting myself thinking about it :oops:

Good to hear the career is not over. :-)

I've heard of these "rumors" of Riz still having the will to do more EHM, but it's nice to hear it from the source, not from some guy in the forums.

Take as long as you like (not too long though!), we'll be here, fans of the game. :-)

I think discussion of marketing has been beaten to death. No need for stuff like that at all jaguar. It is high time to move past that stuff.

On the other side..riz: It is great to have you around here, and I hope you can be somewhat active. Great to see you are still hoping to get back at EHM someday.

Thanks for providing us with hours and days (and years) of entertainment.

Well I'm number 127 (and I'm a member of the bring back EHM facebook group). It's a great show of solidarity but it won't change anything. It's fair to say SI will never bring this back. I'm interpreting what Riz has said above (and what he has said before) as meaning that he'd perhaps he'd write another freeware game.

B72 - I'd take a guess that the best Riz would be able to get would be the image rights (i.e. product name, logos, etc). I can't imagine SI allowing the code to one of their games to be developed outside of their organisation - but maybe in the distant future when the code is old??

Any new incarnation of EHM (freeware or retail software) really ought to put customisation at the very highest priority. Being able to alter start dates, add leagues/teams, etc (on the level seen in OOTP Baseball) would make the game, to a large extent, timeless.

Anyway, it's great to hear some positive words from Riz. Hopefully our community will still be around if/when he chooses to develop a new game as there are plenty of people here who are enthusiastic to help in testing, making graphics, researching leagues, etc. 8-)
