There is no space in the *farm team* roster for this player

Hi,
I'm stucked with my game and don't know how to continue. I searched the forum already but with no result.
The problem is, that I have 24 players in roster (Colorado Avalanche) while 23 is maximum. Where I try to send someone to farm team (Lake Erie or Johnstown - both ECHL), I get message "There is no space in the Johnstown roster for this player", although I recently promoted him from the farm team to NHL team. This error appears for every player, so I can't continue with any game. Even when transfering the player in one turn from farm team to NHL team and the immediately back, I get this message...
:help:
Thanks a lot!
Tom

That is because that in ECHL the teams are just allowed to have 20 player as maximum. To solve this, just take control of the farm team and fire one player who they got signed on a contract (players with a white name, green is your players that you sent down). That should fix this problem.

Thanks. But... isn't it cheating? Is this situation considered a bug that should be solved this way?

And how can I take control of a farm team?
Options->Add general manager offers only NHL league. Can't choose ECHL league and team.

Options->Selected Leagues... any league you want to manage in has to be enhanced

OK, sorry for the previous post. I solved it. I took control of Johnstown, fired 4 players and assigned my ones to this team. Then I resigned from Johnstown GM and my next question is: do I have to have 2 GMs till the end of the game?
How do you ussually solve such situation? I guess I'm not the first one who got into this.
Thanks!

No, you can retire the other GM at any point. Just make sure you retire the right one.;)
You might also want to consider signing some decent coaches to your ECHL affiliate while managing them.

You can resign as GM from Johnstown, but then he will probably sign new players, if there's spaces on the roster.
Or you can go on vacation and select that the GM isn't allowed to sign or trade players, hope that will help. :)

Yes, that helped, I can go on in my game, now.
But it seems so strange. I would say it is bug :-? I've never been in this situation before - in my previous games with different NHL teams (and different farm teams).

It's because Colorado got both their farm teams in ECHL, Lake Erie who play in AHL in real life couldn't be added as the limit of teams in AHL is already full, and it cannot be changed, so Lidas put both Colorado's farm teams in ECHL.

OK, so in case the farm team is from AHL, the problem wouldn't happen?
My bad luck that both farm teams are from ECHL

The way to deal with it without becoming GM of the farm team is to loan the extra players out. I ususally do it with the ones that have the least chance of making it.

I have a similar problem with my game. I'm currently Norfolk Admirals in the AHL with 2 feeder teams of the Lightning and the Blackhawks. My roster has over 50 players on it so obviously not all of them can play. I sent players to Pensacola in the ECHL but there roster is now full. I took control of Pensacola and fired a few players to allow roster space, but still I have 50+ on my roster.

I suppose my question is... can I acquire another farm team to allocate my excess players? Or do I just have to grin and bear my massive roster?

Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated

No, the game doesn't allow for you to make new agreements for farm teams. Your only options are to add another GM to the game under your control and put that GM in charge of the farm team. Use that GM to make room for your players. Otherwise, the only other option would be to loan your players out to other minor league teams (AHL and ECHL).

Thanks for the speeds reply.
The only problem I have is I can't loan out the players that have been assigned to me, only the players I have under contract (which isn't many).
I think I will have to take a more active role as the GM of my farm team, rather than releasing a few players and going on vacation.

Having my best ever start to a season with a 14-2-1 record so far (i suppose I should have really with all the players I have!!)

Thanks again

Hey salkeld-

If the majority of your players are from the NHL teams, I wouldn't worry about it. Just rotate through the players and try to keep everyone healthy. It sounds like you have a great team, so good luck!

I always try to loan a player out to an AHL team before I'll re-assign them to the ECHL. I scout the AHL teams and send them to the ones with the best coaching staff for developing young players.

I figure these players will develop better on someone else's AHL team than my ECHL team. I've even had my goalies get 65+ starts with a different AHL team.

Just thought I'd update you (if anybody's interested LOL)

Doing amazingly well for my standards:

Season record so far is 43-4-6 (rubbish at shootouts)
with 3 players in the top 4 for points total!!

Hi everyone.

I have this kinda problem.. As in first post, im controlling Avalanche. I have 30 players in roster and can't send anyone to ECHL. It's match day so I can't play b/c number of players..

That "Options -> Selected leagues" has only NHL (and couple other countries), can't add any other leagues in there.

So, what i do? Start new game? Is there any way to solve this? :dunno:

And you've got no AHL affiliates? Bummer. You can try offering out players on loan. Other than that I would say that your best bet is to waive some guys. Still, if you've got nowhere to send them, you're kind of in trouble. Would releasing them be the next option?

I tried offer out on loan, but that need couple days to confirm. I waived some guys, but doesnt affect to roster limit. And cant release anyone if not cleared waivers.

So im stuck

E: Only NHL, Finland, Sweden and Russia is selected..
