Is anybody else watching this thinking that it's really bad...? People who can't speak being presenting awards, and Shaka Khan is singing now and it looks like a man in drag!

Steve Sullivan looked really nervous during his speech! Bless him!

Haha, i just read your post and realised how it is almost identical to mine! :-D

I'll carry on from your other 1:

- Mason deserves Calder.
- Malkin deserved Pearson (But because Ovy is more of a 1 man team he won it)
- I wanted Kesler to win Selke (I'm a fan of the underdog! :-D)
- Thomas deserved Vezina
- I love St. Louis so i was rooting for him to win Lady Byng

I'm rooting for Green for Norris, i reckon Lidstrom though!

EDIT: CHARA!?

Are we the only ones watching?

Haha, probably. People watched the first trophy and realised it was poor presenting! :-p

Also, Cameramen shouldn't be seen. But they just walk around with Cameras over their shoulders!

Yeah, really! I really love Ovie, but I would be happy if Malkin won the Hart.

Unless they figure out to make this more interesting, I won't watch it next year.

Congratulations to all of the awards recipients! =D>

I'm really surprise that Chara won the Norris and i'm glad that Lidstrom didn't win it. :-D Time to let the others won sometime! To return to the Norris winner it'S not because i think Chara isn't a good defencemen, but with the season Mike Green got, i was expecting i'm to win. Maybe i'm too young but i think since i watch hockey ( i have 22 yo and i watch hockey since 11-12 yo. ) this is the first time i see a defenceman score more than 30 goals. So for me it was a big reason to win the Norris, but Green isn't pretty good as Chara in defence, Chara is more complete.

Congratulation to all the others winner! Glad for Claude Julien too and Tim Thomas, what a great exemple of perseverance. =D>

Yes, Chara! If it didn't go to Chara or Lidstrom, there was something seriously wrong and the award needed to be retired. Green was excellent offensively but he doesn't bring a complete defensive game. Chara deserved it.

I almost got choked up during Thomas' speech. You could just feel the emotion the guy had. To win the Vezina at his age (35 or 36 now) when not that long ago nobody ever thought he'd make it to the NHL. The guy has traveled a long and hard road to get to where he is and he's very humble. He appreciates every minute of his time in the NHL.

I was not surprised at Chara winning it. Just thought Lidstrom would. I agree that Green doesn't deserve it as he isn't as Defensive as he should be to win it. But maybe the NHL should introduce an Offensive Defensman award, theres a Defensive forward and i feel sorry for Green, he had a great year and nothing to really show for it...

Stories like Thomas are always great to see. His little joke of "I was just trying to get my name on a roster, let alone a tropy" was a nice little dig at the non-believers!

That was the theme of a couple of players. Datsyuk and Chara both said that they were told that they weren't good enough when they were younger.

Sullivan, Thomas, and Chara all had great speeches!

They could have the "Paul Coffey Award" for purely offensive defensemen. I never liked Coffey winning the Norris. It always felt wrong when he won it.

I'm a big fan of the underdog so Thomas has always been my kind of player.

That makes perfect sense怀to me since they have Selke for defensive forwards.

i wish they would have put the names of the presenters on the screen with maybe some kind of graphic to distinguish between the hockey legends and the celebrities. I realize the awards were about the winners, but as a relatively new hockey fan, it was have been nice to know exactly who was talking.

The gamble was not successfully in my modest opinion...
The Hockey cannot be mixed with the gamblers from Vegas, has a much useful place in the world, and NY or Toronto are more class places to held it in the near future....

Yeah, definitely Toronto. And, not on a Thursday night. The NHL blew a chance to get people to watch by cramming this unrehearsed awards show into a naff time slot and then trying to get it over with in an hour and a half. I'm sorry for my rant, but I was just disappointed. Come on, Chaka Kahn? I didn't know she was so popular with the players. Do they play her songs during hockey games in some arenas? Man, if that's the case, I'm missing out.

How about a traditional awards show with a Canadian Master of Ceremonies. When they have an award, tell the history of the award. Who was it named after, who has one it, obviously not everyone that one the award, but some names that people know and some that they don't. Oh, and a rehearsal or two would greatly help. Watch the Oscars one time and you will know what I mean. The presenters are not fumbling through the lines on the teleprompter and you can't tell that they are reading it (the teleprompter).

Also, I think that some of the presenters should be past winners of the award. Wouldn't that be cool?

Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky... the list could go on.

Once again I'm sorry for my rant, but the NHL had a year to plan this and they really disappointed. :-x
