Is it the hunt for the Cup? The scouting part of the game? Maybe you just want to build a superstar team or make a career as a manager? Post what you are looking forward to most when you start a new dynasty!

What I like most ist the tactical challenge.. to get the best possible performance out of every player on my team.

All of it of course Selne. More specifically... Rebuilding a broken team in order to challenge for the cup in a few years time... It's easy as a winning team. But taking on a rubbish team gives a better sense of achievement.

I most enjoy the long-term career simulation.

I always start as an unemployed Rec. Player (the most realistic setting for me), and then let a career unfold. Most of the time, though, I find I stay pretty loyal to my first team and never want to leave... unless I see a really great opportunity open up, and the time is appropriate.

I also like watching the players' careers come and go, and see what kind of history is created.

I like drafting and developing players for the organization and watching how they fit into the team. Mind you though, I'm not big on trading and prefer to build dynasties from within. I try to sign the odd free agent.

Me too. I started my current save as unemployed, got a job from Milton Keynes Lightning. I almost dropped out of my chair when I got a job offer from Prince Albert Raiders. I hadn't even finished a season and I was in second place of league and hadn't dropped out of the cup. (Sorry, I know this isn't right topic but give me mercy moderators.)

Is Rec. Player the most lowest starting reputation available?

I started off playing EHM because I liked having the chance to make my favorite team (the Boston Bruins) to win the Stanley Cup. Keep in mind, this was during some frustrating years for the franchise, not like it is now. I remember how happy I was to see them win it all for the first time. The more I played the game, the more I got into scouting players, drafting, and developing my talent. I love future possibilities! Since joining TBL (and before that sortitoutsi's hockey section) I've enjoyed participating in the challenges. This is gotten me to try playing others teams. I love to find a franchise that's hit rock bottom and build them back up. I rarely play as the Boston Bruins anymore.

For whatever reason, I simply love to trade for older players late in the season to give them a chance to finally win a Stanley Cup late in their careers. Whenever I have built a contender I always do that. I always look for ways to add experience to my club and when I can get some 37-year old blueliner who has yet to get his name engraved on Lord Stanley's Cup, it is all the more rewarding when my team wins in June.
Then I also like to draft solid NHL players in later rounds. I play without scouting, so that part is actually pretty hard and my success rate is not very high
Obviously, breaking NHL records is also a fun thing to do in EHM and I also love to create a young up and coming superstar, let him spend his time in junior hockey and then take over the GM position of the NHL team that drafts him.

I'm actually not sure how it works. I guess it depends on what 'Automatic' does. I think I heard a while back that 'Automatic' just gives you an average reputation which would mean that Rec. Player is the lowest setting. But, if it works like FM, then 'Automatic' will adjust to who you start with - meaning that starting unemployed and with an 'Automatic' reputation will put you at the lowest possible starting reputation.

Not really sure, though. That's one thing I've always wondered about, too.

When i first start EHM the thing i enjoy the most is getting my team into the playoffs and then win the cup. With a year of playing it now, i've got the time to explore the game. Now i'm in my 11 season with Atlanta and most of the players i know are gone, that's when i start to draft more seriously and follow my prospect a lot. Before i was getting too much from the UFA, now with the players i know gone, i prefer to take more time with my prospects and then i'm really proud when they make it to the NHL. I've found a new dimension in EHM that make's me appreciate it more.

For me, I love the fact that I can build a winning team and playing the ultimate franchise mode in a hockey game. I am 2 years late into this game as I played a lot of console hockey (NHL 2K, EA Sports). While I still love console hockey, neither game had the encompassing options that EHM has. Plus, having junior and minor leagues is fun.

With Lidas' database, the game is kept alive and is a ton of fun. As I am continuing to learn the nuances of the game, I will likely be entering challenges this season

Drafting and developing prospects for sure (not just the top 5 can't-miss super prospects). I prefer to build my teams from within and I'm not very into (or good at) the trading game but I'll sign the occasional free agent if none of my prospects are ready to fill a major roster hole.

resigning and freeagent market is always a thrill but i think the best part is drafting and training your rookie to stardom.

I mostly like developing the players, and see how much they develop. Specially if you draft someone on 4th round, and make him superstar, then i am full of good feelings.. aaarr...

Same here its kinda cool when you succeed with something like that !

well since i work as a scout, i enjoy the scouting alot. but i hate it when i find good player and then he won't sign. i'm darn maple leafs for god sake. i rebuilding teams in my image. SPEED, SKILL, DEFENCE and mostly european and tocuh a brute nastyness.

oh yea and the chase for the cup is always nice. i'm aiming for a back to back cup win in season 2 right now.

Sounds good any screenshot of your team ?

Taking a garbage team like Tampa or the Islanders and seeing players like Taveras and Hedman grow into superstars winning cups. Or taking my favorite team to the title.

My favorite part of EHM is playing in active online leagues.
It's fun trying to outfox opponents. Everything about EHM gets way tougher when you're dealing with other humans who have mastered tactics, who scout just as hard as you, who know how to get stars to sign awesome contracts, etc.

You learn so much about the subtleties of the game when playing online. At least, you better, or you'll be hard pressed to make the playoffs.

I hate to belabor this point, but I have never been so disappointed over a video game as I was when I learned EHM 07 wasn't really online friendly.

I can only imagine how much better the online experience would be if we were able to have 30-GM leagues with EHM 07

My favourite part most be to take a swedish team from allsvenskan to SEL and then win the SEL

i like to build a team from drafts and within.

For the auto rep question, if it is like FM, when you select automatic reputation it sets your reputation to the same as the lowest playable leagues reputation.

For example, if League X is set to playable and has a reputation of 3, then when you start your reputation will also be set at 3

I love players with high work rate and teamwork. Im not never gonna take anyone team with under 10 teamwork and work rate. NEVER! Even the guys is Gretzkys regen

For Gretzky regen, i can make an exception. But me too i'm pretty severe for those attributes, it's very important if you want your prospect to develop well. I can make some exception if the player is REALLY talented, but under 12, no thanks. Sometimes when the draft sucks too much and i don't know what guy to pick, if i saw a guy with 5-6 in det but he have a good potential, i will pick him as an experience, just to see what he would do, it's rare that i do that but you could found some great surprises.

What do I like best? Hmmm.....

- rebuilding a struggling team into a Cup contender
- drafting and developing players
- maintaining a competitive team in a salary cap world
- breaking records

By the 2010 draft the game becomes really interesting. You have to trade or let core players walk because your key players want too much money. Prospects you drafted in 2007 could make the team. The 2010 draft is the first big regen draft year. Regens themselves are so interesting: incredibly talented but often flawed, sometimes tragically, and on rare occasions better than the original. I've seen the Yashin regen become one of the best players in the NHL.

Breaking records adds a lot of colour to the game. My favourite is probably the penalty minutes one: Ryan Hollweg: 70 games played, 598 PIM, 7.60 average rating. The actual quest for the Cup is fun but doesn't mean much once you've won it a few times.
