Probable end of the London Racers

This may already be known to some, but the London Racers look set to wind up for this season, the reason being that the Lee Valley Ice Rink is unsuitable. This season there have been two incidents that have caused injury, a player being injured by "a protuding object" coming from the boards, and the plexi glass shattering over a spectator when hit by a slapshot.

London Racers have issued a holding press release until Monday, and will play tonight and Sunday at Sheffield and Cardiff respectively. It is not confirmed but is strongly rumoured that this is all they will play this season, and certainly they will not play at Lee Valley.

It is unclear if the Lee Valley Lions will continue to play at the rink as they are a separate organisation.

More details at the London Racers site here, or straight to the press release here

Boy, that would be a shame. Tough to lose the adopted EHM Hometeam. :blue:

I know it's been tough times for Brit hockey recently, hope things improve. Maybe someone will come to the rescue of the team :cavalry:

That really sucks

I never realised that the Racers were having troubles. Will Bristish hockey ever get back on track? I hope so but I doubt it.
