Site Downtime

If any of you have visited the site over the past 48 hours you would have been greeted with a rather nasty error message and would be unable to view any pages on the site. Unfortunately one of the tables in the server's database had become corrupt, preventing the site from functioning. I usually visit TBL on a daily basis but as I've been on holiday I haven't been able to visit quite so regularly - hence it took a little longer than usual for me to address the issue (sorry!). However I have now repaired the issue and we're back up and running!
Fingers crossed it was just one glitch...

I was like What the Dickens.....does the site still exist.

I knew Archi will get the website on the road, even if it take some times.....

I'm absolutely sure it was a hacker attack!

Database suddenly currupting itself? Come on Archie.
This attack must have been planned very carefully from the underground.

I know we had a hacker attack a couple of years ago and when we was about to visit TBL we ended up on a site based in a some weird country, I don't remember which one.

Some peoples are too jealous of this wonderfull website they can't do.

Corruption of the database is normally just a hardware glitch on the server - just like sometimes when you download a file (e.g. a ZIP archive) online it can be corrupt. If it happens again then it suggests a more serious/permanent hardware fault with the server - in which case I'll bring it up with Octavian.

Heh I can't think of anything worse!

In the past it has taken hours to restore the site after it has been hacked.

Tis why I was hoping for it. I could imagine you spending days/nights and weeks yelling at your computer. I was laughing so hard...yet I actually kind of missed this place. I could not brag about my Sarnia team.

Thanks for getting the site back up! I was wondering if the corruption problem also corrupted the free agent database created by A9L3E as well? It says the file no longer exists and it was only recently uploaded. Thanks!

No, the corruption was isolated to a very small and specific part of the site's database. The reason for A9L3E's file not existing on the server is that we have a file size limit for uploaded files so as to keep our bandwidth (our monthly traffic is fairly heavy) and server space under control. Thus the file wasn't saved when it was uploaded. I've asked A9L3E to email his file to me and I'll upload to our external hosting.
Thanks for pointing this out - and welcome to TBL!

Hello Kitty and Pink are apparently not enough to show the way I truly feel. Oh well.

Maybe people think that Hello Kitty and the color pink (or purple even) are things that a Rangers fan would like?

that could be...I am sure Manimal loves them.
