Forum Rules

Below are some general rules about conduct on the forums. Please note that these are non-exhaustive and ultimately forum conduct is governed by common sense and decency. The intention of these rules is to emphasise the key ethos of the site - i.e. a welcoming and family-friendly place.
Section 1: General
(1) Forum rules are subject to change at any time, without notice and apply retro and prospectively.
(2) These rules are basic guidelines; moderators have the utmost discretion to expand on these rules at any time in order to ensure the smooth running of these forums.
(3) Foul and abusive language is not tolerated.
(4) Anything related to porn, warez or any illegal activity is not tolerated.
(5) Posting racist, sexist or defamatory remarks is not tolerated.
(6) Posts that create a negative atmosphere, or could potentially create such an atmosphere, within the Forums will not be tolerated.
(7) Do not attempt to bypass the swear filter or use swear words with stars in them.
Section 2: Posting
(1)(a) Please perform a Forum search before posting a thread. If there is already a topic on the matter then please post in that topic; don't start a new thread on the same topic.
(1)(b) Also, check the Frequently Asked Questions Box located at the top of the Graphics & Game Add-ons Forum; this may provide the answer to your question.
(2) Please only post in English. While the site and its moderators respect other peoples' languages and cultures, it is not possible for the moderators to moderate threads in foreign languages since they can't speak them.
(3) Users may post in a foreign language where it is relevant to the thread and is in an attempt to help a fellow user.
(4)(a) Do not post in all capitals.
(4)(b) Capitals may, however, be used to highlight a word or a phrase.
(5) Ensure that thread titles provide a brief summary of the topic you are posting about. Titles such as "A Quick Question" or "Noob Question" are unhelpful and should be avoided.
(6) Do not post in "text speak". This means abbreviating words in the style of text messaging. Normal abbreviations may be used, as may Internet chat-related abbreviations such as: lol, iirc, imho, etc.
(7) Please use sentences. Each sentence should begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop/period. We appreciate that English is not everybody's first language and we do not expect perfect grammar or spelling. However, it is a common feature of most or all languages to use sentences, capital letters and full stops/periods. Failure to do so makes it very hard to read posts and is just annoying.
(8) Ensure that you stay on-topic in a thread. If you wish to discuss another topic, start another thread. If there is not an appropriate forum for your topic, use the General Discussion Forum.
Section 3: Links & Adverts
(1) Users may not use the forums to advertise their websites, products, etc. or anybody else's.
(2) Users may post links where it is related to the thread and is in an attempt to help a fellow user.
Section 4: Moderators
(1) The moderators of each forum are listed in the forum index page.
(2) Moderators have total discretion as to when and how the forum rules apply.
(3) Posting abusive comments about any moderators, any users or the site is not tolerated. Constructive criticism, on the other hand, is always welcome.
(4) Moderators may move a thread to another forum at their discretion.
(5) Moderators may delete/close/censor a post/thread and/or warn or ban a user at their discretion.
Section 5: Warnings & Bans
(1) Moderators may warn a user for breaking any of the forum rules or for any other reason, subject to s5(b).
(2)(a) If the reason is sufficiently serious, the moderator may ban the offending user(s).
(2)(b) The moderators may use their discretion as to the definition of "sufficiently serious".
(2)(c) Repeated offending is regarded as "sufficiently serious".
(3) The duration of the warning/ban is at the discretion of the moderators.
