I could not find a suitable topic for this question:

Could you make it possible to play pre-season games with only rookies in them? I always want to try my new guys but it is hard when the opponents ice their top players

That too.

What I really mean is a pre-season game where the stars do not play. Rookies vs. rookies

Is it not up to each GM/Coach to decide which players to dress? Imo rookie camps should be the only games where you are forced to play rookies. Of course I would want to code the AI so that they don't always play the best team during the off-season.

But if the general opinion is something else I am listening.

Yeah you can code AI teams that they play a certain percentage of youngsters. And this should be done in all over the world, I'd say, but maybe with a bigger impact in the NHL.

I know what Manimal means. Rookie camp is usually in the summer, within a month of the draft. NCAA players are actually allowed to participate in those rookie camps. Then in September you have your training camp where everyone except your NCAA prospects come out and usually the first couple games of the pre-season are "rookie games". In those games the two teams will play only their rookies, no vets. Many prospects get sent back to their junior clubs after these rookie games if they didn't make a big enough impact.

I would love this as I always arrange an extra pre season game or two just to play my rookies. Of course I always get smashed 12-1 or something like that but I am def on board with this.

I would like the option to be able to arrange a rookie tournament ala Traverse City or the Western Conference Tournament they hold every year (cant rem the name) in early September.

Or being able to arrange a four team/ six team tournament in early September where you can only play rookies and prospects.
