I'm sure Russia will play better in overcoming matches. Nabokov was weird choose to be starting goalie, cause he has played last real game somewhere in early December. However, it wasn't his fault that Russia lost, the biggest problem was their zero goals, of course...

lol, just saw the Russian score now. Game sheets aren't loading but I assume Patzold was in net for the Germans. Ouch.
On the plus side, France pushed the Swiss to OT. 1-0 Switzerland final. Go Huet!

Finland - Denmark 5-1
19-year-old Mikael Granlund scored 4-1 goal and was choosen best player of the game. It was Mikke's 5 international appearance and he was first Finnish player in World Championships who has born in 90's.

I hate the first game in this tournament...Sweden never plays good in the first game...
But I think both Russia and Sweden will be in at least quarter finals, maybe even semi finals when they comes around. At least Russia should be in the semis...

^ That just got unproven when they barely won Slovenia and their goaltending is shaky.

Well this game was entertaining, lots of goals, great attacking (both teams) and still if Slovak had won this it was for now the best game what I have seen in this tournament. It's shame that someone have to lose

What the Dickens Komarov did to get penalty?
Whole game looks to be out of referees control...

Don't blame refs like Slovaks do. We were just luckier

No, but they spoiled a good game, I would've judgeg some situation different way. First: I would have given penalty to some Czech player when Komarov got penalty. Next, I would have given penalty to Plekanec when he freaks out after Ruutu's hit.
However, Pavelec was in flames.

I'm not big fan of Plekanec and yeah, I expected Plekanec go out, too. But on the other hand, Ruutu's hit was easily for 5 minutes. So it was 50-50. Well, no, it was 2:1

The refs lost the control of the game at the end of the first period... Finland is maybe the unluckiest team in these games... The puck never bounces for our advance

Big win for you guys. By the skin of your teeth against the Germans 5-4 in a shootout despite outshooting them 49-21.
Also, Canada is tied 3-3 with US and shots are 51-20 for Canada. Nuts.

What a thriller, these are the matches I'm nuts off
Holzer should have been ejected after his dirty hit in the end of 3rd period
