Editing salaries in a save game (EHM07 Lidas update used)

Hi all,

First of let me say that even though this is my first post, I have been coming to this website for years and making use of the excellent updates (many thanks Lidas team for keeping this game alive with the superb roster updates). Some great info on here and a nice community. Now, to business...

I am about 18 seasons in on a Lidas database. Loving my save game and really dont want to start over but something has gone a bit mental. I have noticed that about 10 players around the league have just signed MASSIVE contracts (over 10 million). Now these players belong to teams I was hoping would challenge me for the Cup since I have becoming a bit too dominant for it to be fun. I really dont want these teams to have to waive lots of quality players because of this bug because that would mean I would just go 16-0 through the playoffs again. I also dont want to harm my own team just to make it a challenge.

So, is there any way to edit salaries for players in the game? If I have to I could always trade for those players, edit them (if you can only edit players on your team) then trade them back. I have tried using ArtMoney, which is a hex editor. It does seem to amend salaries, but it mostly turns them to gibberish. Ideally I would like to pick 2 franchise players from every AI team and amend them to have tiny salaries so they can pack their rosters with talent.

Searching around it appears that there might be a way but no-one seems to have definitively nailed it. Does the collective hive mind of TheBlueLine have any advice for me?

Thanks chaps.

Hmmm... after experimentation I have a semi-fix.

Some of the larger salaries (over or equal to 10 mil) can be reduced to 50k by exploiting a bug which works as so:

I took over Thrashers as GM. Offered a trade to Sharks, Marino Moon (yes, it is a regen name) salary at £10,350,000 for Taylor Taylor (another rubbish named regen) @ £10,300,000.
Take over as manager of Sharks, accept trade.
Both now have salary of £50,000 (bug seems to trim salaries right back during trades for some reason)
Trade them back, quit as manager.

It does mean that I am going to end up messing up the managers of these teams. But at least it fixes my immediate concern, and will work to make the AI more of a challenge.

Wish there was a more sophisticated way though.
