Djurgårdens IF

I have decided to write a story about my favorite team, Djurgårdens IF in Sweden. Let's hope that my computer don't get any virus. :nerd:

The directors expected the team to stay out of regelation. But I had higher expectations than that, I was aiming for the playoffs.
The first thing I did when I started at the team was to try to find a new goalie, that's because Nashville Predators was trying to sign Teemu Lassila. And also some defenders and forwards, many of those players are non-EU players and you can only hav two non-EU players in the line up.

For this season we also started to cooperate with Hannover Scorpions, so some of the new players will play for them and some will play for Almtuna IS that also is a cooperation club. (Thank god for editors. ;) )

Here is some of the new players:
Image

Later we signed two new players, Alexander Hult who were free agent and Emil Axelsson from Arboga.

Some of them will probably play in Hannover or Almtuna.

Exhibition results:

IHK Sparta Sarpsborg-Djurgården 0-7
Stavanger-Djurgården 0-8
Storhamar-Djurgården 1-5
L.I.K.-Djurgården 0-10 :joy:
Djurgården-Luleå 6-1
Modo-Djurgården 0-8

After these games there was only one question left:
Which of those non-EU players should go and with Hannover or Almtuna?

The statistics after the pre-season games was like this: (The top ten)

Players:
1. Daniel Rudslätt 6GP 9G 12A 21P 9.50Av R
2. Per Eklund 6 9 9 18 8.67
3. Marty Murray 6 4 9 13 8.50
4. Darby Hendrickson 6 3 6 9 8.33
5. René Vydarený 6 2 6 8 7.83
6. Mika Strömberg 6 1 6 7 7.83

10. Cliff Ronning 1 1 4 5 10.00

Goalies:
Zac Bierk 6GP 6W 0L 0T 360Mins 0.33GAA 8.50Av R

The line up (is often different because of the rule of only 2 non-EU players in the line ups):

Forwards:
Rudslätt-Hendrickson-Eklund
Bartecko-Thoresen-Ottosson
Bremberg-Eneqvist-Ölvestad
Thörn-Andersson-Kristoffersson

Defenders:

In next part: The first ten season games.

Well, I wouldn't sign 7 non-EU players for my SEL team... :o

I'm interested in seeing how Rene Vydarny does. He's one of my European prospects in my Montreal game.

Can you imagine the headlines in the newspapers if that really happens:

"Top coach signs non-EU players totally oblivious of the League's quota rule" :-D

He had 5 points in the one game he played and you didn't even give him another chance? Yikes :-o

Part 2

After 10 games played we're in 6th place in the and right now we're in the playoffs.

The best player in Djurgården so far is Daniel Rudslätt with 13 points in 10 games.
The best defenceman is Adam Andersson with 6 points in 10 games.
Zac Bierk was starting goalie, but now he is in Almtuna after a couple of bad games, and the stupid rule of a maximum with 2 non-EU players  ,and now Kristian Antila is the starting goalie.

René Vydarený is out for a couple of weeks with a MCL strain, he played 7 games and did 4 assists.

Our best game was against Södertälje which we won with 4-0, but the largest victory was a game against Leksan which we won with 8-3.
Almtuna is also doing great, for example they won against AIK with 6-0 and made 77 shot attempts but "only" 45 on goal.

In Part 3:
Game 11-30.
