I'll give free hands.. There's still a lot to do.

I hosted unfinished 98/99 DB in Filefront.. so feel free to try it.
http://files.filefront.com/98+99rar/;13 ... einfo.html
I don't really remember what I have done, but here's little list:
98/99 season NHL rosters (there's not yet all AHL/IHL players in the DB)
NHL player salaries and team budgets is fixed to match 98 season.
Strict player attributes, infos and histories for around 15/27 NHL teams.
Re-created all 99's drafted players.
Almost all affiliation and arena changes from year 1998 to 2008.
I think that I have done SM-Liiga rosters too.. and re-aged and transferred tons of players to their 98 season teams.
Mods can move this message to new topic if they want.

Just finished the first season on the 98/99 DB and i think it's really good, although the physical skills, mainly speed and acc, is pretty low on many players (most of them is defencemen). I tried to fix some of the players but the db crashed all the time when loaded, don't know why.
but it works out good anyway, won the presidents trophy and stanley cup with the Avalanche first season

(Also found a 21-year old Ovechkin, 18-year old Crosby and Malkin)
Really good job

Not much is better than manage a team with players like Pavel Bure (:notworthy:), Mogilny, Roy and a young and healthy Forsberg!

that would be great
I also saw that you can sign a few players that are 18 (or sometimes under) and eligable for the upcoming draft, got a news message that half the league had offer contracts to players like justin williams, brad boyes, john-michael lilles, henrik lundqvist and some other i cant remember.
Anyone knows why?

Those player need to re-create. I have created all 99's drafted players and some 99-> drafted players again.
Somehow all players, who has drafted to NHL are eligable to sign even without picking him in draft.

I've just started playing with these custom databases. I guess there's no way to hack the game and hange the original start date?

No, there isn't so you just play from 2006, but the players birth date has been changed to be correct to the age they had the year that the databases is based on.

Not to take the thread off-topic but if you're looking for a decent file host for free, go sign up for a Windows Live account (what they're calling Hotmail now but with other things) and use the SkyDrive. It allows a lot of storage and doesn't appear to have download limits. It's what we're using for file hosting here at TBL now.

Problems with Ovechkin, Crosby etc. These players seem to be too young for 98/99 database. Crosby is 22 instead of 12 (or so) with very low CA. What to do?

Thanks for that found.
If I remember right I was thinking about to do save game file in some point and using sg-editor to fix their ages later.
But I thought that should be too big project and forget to retire those players.
You can retire Ovechkin, Crosby and Malkin with editor. That should fix the problem.
Or use saved game editor to fix their ages.
I will release new version in near future and retire them completly.

Ok. I release two different versions, saved game and if I can fix fantasy draft then also db file.
That will take some time but I might release next version before end of the year.

I started to play 98-99 db with NY Rangers, and i saw that i can send Mike Knuble and Marc Savard to AHL (it's normal), but i can send them to Sparta Praha (?!?!??!?!?!?), what that means and why it happens?

I saw too, that Sparta Praha is Rangers farm team, but why? I don't think that NHL teams have ever had European farm teams
