I'm sure it is! My two goalies have determination ratings of 4 and 5 respectively.

I never knew that story, thanks for sharing it Manimal. Also, I heard about the Graham James abuses but I never really knew any more about him. Seems like a lot of tragedy and sorrow still surrounds the team.

So I'm sure we've got players on this team with random potential, which means that the various players turn out differently for each of us. So who have some of your favorites been so far? I'm not even to my first 18 game segment (please remember that CHL teams have different reporting periods than the NHL does in the challenges) and I'm starting to see a few players stand out in a good way. So far, I'm really liking Richard Nedomlel. He's the one foreign player on the roster. He's a 6'4" 224 lbs Czech defenseman. The Red Wings drafted him in the 6th round of 2011. He's big, strong (17), and has nice attributes for a defensive defenseman. He's really the backbone of my defense. He's 18 years old and I'm hoping that the Red Wings don't take him from me for a couple years. Oh and I've got 6 players already unhappy because they think we're underachieving. We're only 9 games into the season and 1 game below .500, so it's not like we're doing that poorly. Give us a chance!

What's the ultimate goal of the current challenge? How many seasons do we anticipate playing? Curious because I may finally take part in one as I was thinking of starting a new game.

Play as many season as you can in the two month time limit given. No real goal other than to do well and maybe win the Memorial Cup.

Oh boy. There is a very good chance that I'll be fired before the end of the season. This isn't good.

Oh boy this is gonna be ugly.
1. I have not been able to find a good head coach. My assistants are just average at best.
2. In training camp...I have Black, Blanke, Nedomeil, Gordon, Hoban, Craig, Walker, Groehnhyde, and two others constantly getting messages about struggling in camp.
3. I have noone getting a "Standing out in camp"
4. I have noone in good shape in camp.
5. I was ranked third from the bottom in the WHL preview.
Colby Cave, Jarret Zentner, Adam Rossignol, Ryan Bloom, Steven Myland, Josh Derko, Shea Howorko, Adam Smith, the SMith goalie, ALL JUST TOTALLY SUCK. I WANT CODY EAKIN BACK

I was dead last

And for the most part had about 5 people 'struggling' in camp, the only positive was that at the end of camp ONE PERSON (can't remember who right now) was 'making strides'

I was second to last in the season preview. Overall, that's looking pretty accurate. I'll be amazed if I don't have one of the top 4 picks in the WHL draft.
Right now at a little more than half the season played I've got 3/4 of my team unhappy because they feel that we're underachieving. And this is my fault? I think they need to pay better!

Opening Day lineup
Gordon-Vause-Magnus
Moser-Cave-Hoban
Dale-Black-A Smith
Derko-Rossignol-Blanke
Lowry is still in Winterpeg. Extra forwards til he comes back: Howorko/Bews. Bews will likely get sent down.
Neidomeil-Hetherington
Fleming-Reum
Craig-Walker
Reece Scarlett still with Devils. Love his name. GWTW. Extra dman for now is Evans.
Groehnhyde
Smith
I have had zillions of offers for Evans, Dale, Blanke, Craig, and Walker. All of which I would have taken on the spot. But challenge rules...I am good.
I also would have loved to have raided the Calgary Hitmen roster and dumped every single guy on my team save the top 3 (Neidomeil, Lowry, Scarlett) and my top prospect Gordon.
ETA: WOW ... I won my second game 8-2 over Brandon. Brandon looks bad. Given up 15 goals in their first two games.
Hoban has 6 points for me on the 10 goals the team has scored. (Lost to Moose Jaw 4-2)

So you are doing the pay-to-play version? Nice coaching...

Ok, nice to see a challenge in the dub, but the Broncos are Adam Oates (more of a Warriors fan myself), they've got rubbish G, rubbish D and totally useless C, which probably means this team won't go far in the off-season if I ever get there. I'll tip my virtual hat to anyone getting to the Mem cup in the first three years. Good thing I'm not even rooting for the team I'm managing, so getting the PIM leader in this challenge seems to me like a reasonable goal.

ISS rankings came out. Coda Gordon is ranked 16th! And Adam Rossignol is 165th.

Ok, so Graham Black, who happens to be my best C, injured himself just prior to the season opening for EIGHT MONTHS. I guess I'm done.

Just finished the first quarter of Season 1 and to echo everyone else, this team is horrible. The goaltending is awful, with both goalies having a GAA of over 5, the penalty killing just gives the other teams goals. Our power play isn't too bad and is the third best in the league and I've received pretty good starts from Nedomlel and Gordon, but the real shock is the season from Taylor Vause. I'm more shocked that no one has signed him as an NHL free agent yet. Other than those three and the power play, the season has been a disaster and I think I'm going to get fired before I get to 20 wins.
Gordon is so unhappy because he believes that the team should be leading the league.....is he dilusional as well?!

I forgot which person it was, but I had the same thing with someone. They were unhappy because they thought we should be leading the league. Really?? In what dream world are you living?

So there is a guy named Blake Gal on the Spokane Chiefs. Apparently, he was on a bit of a goal-scoring tear because I got a funny news item says "Hot Gal scores another!".

Woot! the first challenge i'm doing good at! Right now after 20 games im 11-6-0-3. I hit a rough spot from game 14-18 going 0-4-0-1. In game 13 Cave got hurt, then in game 14 Derko got hurt. Then Lowry got hurt in practice. And in game 15 Moser got hurt.

The only one back so far is Cave. The rest should be back in a week.
Here are my lines as of game 20:
Gordon-Black-Bews
Howorko-Vause-Hoban
Sinatynski-Cave-Magnus
Rossignol-Blanke-Smith
Nedomlel-Scarlett
Craig-Heatherington
Evans-Walker
Groenheyde-Myland
When Lowry and Derko come back ill send Sinatynski and Rossignol back to the Rebels where they where doing great before being called back.
The players doing the best for me are my Centres. Vause-Blanke-Black and 1-2-3 in team scoring! and Cave would be up there if he didn't get hurt. Howorko is doing great being 4th on the team in points. And even thou Magnus didn't start the season in the lineup hes going to stay there playing like this! 13 GP 1G 6A 7P +7
On the down side. Gordon is not playing at strong as he should be. He's 16gp 6g 2a 8p -5. And Dale I can't even let play

so many bad PIM's
