2022 Draft: The Wonder Kid?
When the chance to add another 1st round selection in the draft came up, we did not hesitate at the chance to be able to nab a prospect that our scouts have spotted steadily climbing the central scouting rankings. The young 17 years old already has the frame of an NHLer and hints of high skills to go with his natural hockey IQ.
Brausen committed to Arizona Sun Devils and has high hopes of winning an NCAA championship. But before he begins his journey to winning a national championship, he spent this year playing for the Madison Capitols of the USHL, where he proved that he has potential to be a very exiting prospect. It will be a while before Brausen earns a spot on the Canucks. But based on his production this year and rising stock, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if we’re talking a lot more about him down the road.

Scouting ReportThe 6-foot-2, 211-pound forward picked up a head of steam as a high schooler this past season, scoring an insane 45 goals and 96 points in just 60 games. Brausen was dominant. So dominant, in fact, that The Hockey News believes he could turn out to be a diamond in the rough for the Canucks.
Every draft has sleepers, dark horses and late bloomers and Brausen may be a hidden gem that encompasses all three.
