Thanks for pointing that out. I'll look into that when I eventually have some spare time. I wonder why the buttons are working differently - they all run the same programming routine except that buttons 1 and 2 first load the game. Interesting!

So I started a sim with NHL, AHL, SEL, Fin league, RSL, and CHL. [OHL/QMJHL,WHL]

The CSD patch says apply patch if saved before Feb 1st in NHL, July 1st for Fin/RSL for season 1.

I last saved at June 20th 2012, so that means I do not need to apply the patch to open the game now?

On the League Selection Screen does it show the correct start year?

Have you tried using a different database?

From the "Custom Start Date Patch: Frequently Asked Questions" thread (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 117&t=9256) in the Technical Support Forum...

The game crashes on a particular date during the first season
If you do not use the Patch each time you reload the game until 1st February/July (depending on whether or not you have the Finnish/Russian leagues loaded) then you will likely encounter a crash on one of the following dates in-game:

1 October
12 February
28 February
15 April
25 May
29 June

Seems there is a weird problem, but managed to solve it by myself:

If I start the game in 2012 only by using the ArtMoney, the WC would end up with the 16 first countries in alphabetical order (but besides that it works fine) - if I however start the game, run the CSD patch, then use the 00C6 Start Date Offset file in ArtMoney and then choose a league, it works fine along with a normal World Championship.

That is because the ArtMoney info on the site is very much out of date. I don't think I posted an updated ArtMoney following when I fixed the WC bug (which is where the teams appear in alphabetical order).

You don't need to lose ArtMoney at all unless the CSD Patch doesn't change the start date on the League Select Screen. 99% of users can use just the Patch.

1. The version of Windows you are using (and ideally whether it is 32 or 64 bit).
Windows 7 [64 bit]

2. The version of EHM you are using (i.e. v3.0.3, v3.0.4, etc).
v3.0.4

3. The edition of EHM you are using (eLicense or CD-ROM).
eLicense

4. If you receive any warning/error messages in the Patch window, please provide a complete copy of the messages you receive.
None, patch auto turns off and loads up EHM like it says in the guide

5. Specific details of what the problem is. It’s not enough to say simply that it crashes! I need to know at what point in-game it crashes and anything you clicked on that resulted in the crash.
Basically two issues,

Issue 1: When I try to create a new game [with all leagues] after loading EHM through the patch, it is working fine then an error pops up saying "v3.0.4 fin_suomi.cpp 1333" at this point after clicking ok, the game at this says it has stopped working etc and closes

Here's a picture of the error:
http://oi45.tinypic.com/rws2ux.jpg

When trying to load all leagues apart from Finland I then get the exact same error "v3.0.4 russian_super.cpp 1503", but the game doesn't crash, it just continues as normal and creates the game. But when I quit game it has the stopped working thing again.

When Russia and Finland aren't loaded, I don't have either of the russian_super or suomi errors and game creates fine with no errors, but even then it's not right because of issue 2 below.

Issue 2: The start date doesn't actually changed, when creating game it gives me the 2006 start date and actually starts in 2006 instead of 2011.

That's about all I can give you on the problem, hopefully it's fixable!

Cheers.

Here's the solution to your problem: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 36#p138236

I don't know the cause of the problem (it only affects a very small number of users), but the link above should fix it.

Thanks for posting thorough details of the problem - it really helps!

Thanks, my game does load up in 2011 now, but I'm still getting that suomi error when I try to create a game including the Finnish league.

Second question is, after game is created, from then on do I load it through the CSD patch? [IE don't need to use artmoney after game creation?]

EDIT: I don't know if the start date has anything to do with it, in terms of, if I'm starting a game with all leagues selected, is it fine to start on 30th August [North American start date] when I have the European leagues loaded?

1) Hmm I'm not sure what will be causing this because this method has always resolved the issue in the past. What size is your ehm2007.exe? Have you tried using a different database?

2) Yes I'm afraid you have to use both the Patch and ArtMoney until you reach the relevant cut-off date. As I can't replicate the same issue on my computer, I'm unable to find a better solution.

3) No, it doesn't matter which start date you choose.

I think I know what I did wrong, didn't load EHM through the CSD Patch. Just tried to do it through the CSD patch and then did the art money thing and game created fine.

Ok, having an October 1st issue. The thing is, I have used the patch since release and have never had this problem. I started a new game a few days ago, started with the patch, and played through one whole season. I am currently stuck on Sept 30th, 2012 as the game crashes on Oct 1. I patch and run the game, it crashes. I just load the game without the patch, it crashes. I never had to use ArtMoney before. So do I have to start from the beginning again or is there a way to save my current game? I tried using the instructions that are posted for ArtMoney but I must be doing something wrong since it is still not working. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks.

The crash is normally caused because the Patch wasn't used one time when loading/re-loading the game. There isn't any way to fix a game that didn't have the Patch applied. You'll have to start again, I'm afraid.

I know it's a pain, but unfortunately this is the drawback of patching the game like this.

Hi, I am new to EHM 2007 and I discovered that site and all its different forum discussions. I have then upload the CSD patch, newest rosters and EHM v.3.0.4. However, I forgot to read all the details about how to use the CSD patch... and I forgot many times to load/apply it before playing my game. It had caused some problems (game crashed, needed to close the program) on some critical dates pointed out by nino33 (thanks by the way), but every time, I simply had to start EHM using the CSD patch and I could continue my game. However, I am now on May 25th in the game, and no matter what I do (close program, reload using the CSD patch) the game crashes and the program needs to be closed. I know that the problem is due to the fact that I forgot to load the patch many times before February 1st in the game. That is my fault, and now I am wondering if my game is completely lost and if I need to start over...

To add more details, I will follow what [quack] has done in a previous post:

1. The version of Windows you are using (and ideally whether it is 32 or 64 bit).
Windows 7 [64 bit]

2. The version of EHM you are using (i.e. v3.0.3, v3.0.4, etc).
v3.0.4

3. The edition of EHM you are using (eLicense or CD-ROM).
eLicense. However, sorry for that, I started my game using a cracked version of the game that I got as a torrent ](*,) . I did not knew there was a demo version. So when I realized that my cracked version was only a demo version, I decided to buy it as a eLicense. Since then, I was able to continue playing the same game I had started on a cracked version of EHM 2007.

4. If you receive any warning/error messages in the Patch window, please provide a complete copy of the messages you receive.
No warning/error messages in the Patch window

5. Specific details of what the problem is. It’s not enough to say simply that it crashes! I need to know at what point in-game it crashes and anything you clicked on that resulted in the crash.
See above for more details. I could also add that it crashes when a window in the game opens saying: "Processing, wait..." (if I remember correctly) while loading from May 25th (evening, after the Stanley Cup game) to May 26th (morning).

My only concern is that I am afraid I will have to lose my game, because of my own error which is starting the game without looking at the specifications of the CSD patch.

If anyone can help me I would be really glad to ear.

Thanks

Welcome to The Blue Line!

I'm afraid your game is most likely lost. I certainly haven't found any way to recover a game like this. There are certain critical dates in the first season where the patch must be loaded because otherwise you end up with an impasse like this.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Thanks, I'll learn from my mistakes ;)

So if I understand correctly, I need to start a new game by loading EHM through the CSD Patch. Then everytime I want to play then I need to do the same thing if I am before February 1st in the game. Then I may load EHM directly.

Is this the way to go for the first season only, or I must do that the following seasons as well.

Moreover, is it problematic if from now on I decide to load EHM through the CSD patch all the time even after February 1st (in the game)?

Thanks for your help!! :)

You should use the CSD Patch in the following circumstances:

1) When you want to START a new game in EHM and you want to use a custom start date.

2) If you have the RUSSIAN or FINNISH leagues selected: When you RELOAD a game where you have not yet reached the 1st July at the end of the first season. You must use the Patch to set the same start year as when you first created the saved game using the Patch.

3) If you DO NOT have the Russian or Finnish leagues selected: When you RELOAD a game where you have not yet reached the 1st February of the first season. You must use the Patch to set the same start year as when you first created the saved game using the Patch.

Manimal's post above this one will probably help you with regards to your October crash. If not, read this: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 117&t=9256

With regards to converting another database for use with the Patch, you need to do more than just change the player ages. I've been working on a util that will do all of this for you, but in the mean time you will need to use all of the [MET] tools listed here other than the Mass Attribute Editor / Realism Patch (unless you also want to apply it of course).

If you're feeling brave, you can convert the v4.1b histories for use with the Lidas v2.1 by using the beta version of the EHM Updater (click here). The readme.pdf contains instructions, but basically you want to export the histories from v4.1b and then delete the saff_history.dat file from v2.1 and use the import/update feature to generate a new file for 2.1.
