Red PlaymOver Barrage tactic

Post by Wroom »

Okey, made a tactic during my playing time. Pretty extreme someone would say. But again, easy and not big adjustments all the time

The point of this tactic is to have a high pressure and heavy load of shots at the net. Win the puck and set up the play and shoot, or just find fast passing options and shoot.

What kind of players do you need in this one:
- Three good centers atleast
- Pacy wingers
- Top pair d-men(atleast one Norris-candidate)
- Very good core second pair d-men
- Good goaltender

I play with 4 offensive lines and 3 d-men pairs.

All lines have their center as playmaker and mostly he takes the faceoffs.
All offensive players have:
Image
Only if an offensive guy is young and not so good, you remove carry puck.
In a d-men pair. Usually I have one of them to join the rush and one to stay back. And one or both to shoot. Very often both(because of offensive faceoff to point shot).
- Be aware, Most of the time when you change lineup because of injuries or just changing lines. These go away, and you have to do them again

The tactics for 1-4 lines is all the same:
Image

Only difference is that 1st. line have 60sec shifts, 2rd and 3rd have 40sec shifts and 4th have 30sec shifts.

Power Play(5v4 and 5v3):
- 1st line 60sec
- 2rd line 40sec
Image

Penalty Kill:
- No playmaker on PK
Image

Penalty Kill 3v5:
- No playmaking on PK
Image

Even Strength:
- No playmaking(questionable, you could try it if you want)
- 1st line 60sec shift
- 2rd line 40sec shift
Image

Give it a go if you want, if you don't care...read the next topic.

Well, tell how it goes if you give it a try. If you are a "naff" team, you would problaby have many exciting games

It looks too extreme for my tastes.

I gave it a try and it was interesting to be sure but it caused way too many injuries.

Had 7 injuries of 10 + days to my starters in 6 games.

Of course in a 12 year game I have had a period or two with that amount of injuries, but I think that is just a odd incident.

game one was unsuccessful, but I need a 1st line RW, right now its being filled by Dustin Brown, rather than the old ass Sami Kapanen..

and another 1 goal loss... 0-2-0 to start the season...

ok, I've noticed a jump, after stomping Calgary 9-2, Gomez has 14 points in 5 games, 9 goals... should be a good one.

seem to be getting the hang of this, couple tweaks here and there, found out, anyone can play right wing with Gomez and Heatley. brought in my 7th round pick from this past draft... Sheng Wang from China.. 2 goals in debut, coaches said he wasn't even good enough for the ECHL, hahaha

20 games in, gomez has 47 points, last season he had 109.

My team is alright, but I had to tweak the PK, and i'm doing alot better.

Yeah, I struggled some with PK and PP(letting in alot of short handed goals, in the early seasons). Some finding lines and some small tweaks helps. Adjust to your team is always one of the better options.

51GP.. 38-10-3. 225GF only 134 GA. My PP is a brutal 14.7% but my PK is at 88.7%

Just need to tweak my PP..and I should be that much better

Try use your first and second line on PP, but switch out a winger with a winger from 3rd or 4th line.

I'm playing as New York Rangers and using this tactics, my first line is Näslund/Gomez/Zherdev and all three is top three in points in the league. :joy:

1. Gomez 28GP 15G 39A 54P
2. Zherdev 27GP 23G 25A 48P
3. Näslund 25GP 20G 28A 48P

But my PP is decent and PK is really bad. My PP is at 17.2% and my PK is 81.4% and that's second worst to Capitals who's got 77.4% they are at 15th in the conference and I'm at 2nd, so my PK needs to be better.

This tactic is wonderful, thanks Wroom.

only line that lacks any production is 4th line, with exception to Alyn McCauley.. best 4th line LW ever, haha

also, since Gaborik got back, insane. Now i think I might trade Gomez.. I need to move Tavares up. My board will be furious, but Oh well.. and.. game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals against Florida.. (they have Kipper..) Luongo goes out with a UCL tear.. like always. I managed to blank them even after bringing in Barulin.. but 2-1 in the series and Now I am forced to use a backup.. or even bring up Sexsmith

Sexsmith actually gets pretty decent. Had him in Penguins, but that was from 2015-2019. Until I traded him+a pick for Montoya.

McCauley is brilliant! I remember having him on 2rd and 3rd line. 4th line doesn't produce much, they don't play more than 5-10 min either. So, as long as they have +/- on the right side and creates something now and then, I'm pretty pleased.

In my Penguins team, the top line is around 30 points after 19 games played(though, center Bergeron has only played 10 games with 19 points)

On the Detroit team its another deal tho. 19 games played. Crosby 56 points, Ovechkin 55 points, Saarela 44 points. St. Pierre on the 2rd line has 42 points. Malkin on the 3rd line+PP2 wing has 35 points.

Well I did it, I won the cup in game 7 with Tyson Sexsmith in net.

i'm going to see if this tactic will work in the WHL.

wow, my best was 10.. but they had 6..

ya, and so far it is working in the WHL, my Giants are 10-0-1. giving up too many SH goals though.

Next year will be better when I actually have a good goalie.. my current goalie has terrible attributes

It worked fine in Swedish Elitserien, so it should work. It's all about to try it out in major juniors and see for yourself.

Well. It works in NHL and SEL. That I know. binchnunker has tried it in WHL, it works there. So, try it out and see. Most important is to have good overall centers. Compared to the level you are playing on of course.

Good centers and a good goalie help loads.

2 of my centers in the WHL were horrendus.. like 5 in faceoffs.. but its all good, because the other team is just as bad

It's like 7-8 games before reaching 82 games and the playoffs and what happens?

Montoya, starting goalie gets injured... 4 months ACL(?)...knee(?)

Well. Okey, I got Kuparinen. He is not that good as Montoya, but he is like 1C compared to Montoya. Call-up for Carey Price(who sucks...32years old)

Next game.

Kuparinen, starting goalie gets injured... 4 months ACL(?)...knee(?). Call-up for a 24 year old naff goaltender to be Price's backup.

Playoffs, here we come...
