It's 3.6 vs 2.7 for me
Your numbers are just insane :p
Are you matching lines ? I've noticed matching lines 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc usually results in way more realistic scores.

I think I've discovered a new feature in EHM :-o

It's called "spot-the-Clout-alert", everytime you lose him out of sight in the game and forget which team he's on the game reminds you.

Proof

LOL! I like the "spot-the-Clout-alert". Seems to be very effective (even if Cloutier isn't!)

I tend to set my tactics to a very offensive style of game, so I end up with these scores. Usually, I have better goaltending, so the GA isn't so bad. I might have to tone down my tactics some. I haven't matched lines in a long time. Seeing as how Robbie Ftorek is my head coach, I should consider more defensive tactics and line matching. That's what he would do. I just love playing a high flying game.

My farm team is absolutely KILLING! They're 6-0 so far in the regular season. 30 GF 17 GA. Blunden, Bickell, and Salmelainen are all in the top 20 for scoring (Blunden is #5). Barker and Wisniewski are in the top 10 for defensmen.

Yeah, I think we're all turning to some familiar faces in this challenge
Speak for yourselves. I refuse to pick up the regulars this time. I refuse. AND I am going to school you all AGAIN with different players AGAIN. :-p

You will learn from the master, young boys. You will learn.

or not...who knows??)

Anyway, love the Clout-alert, always good for morale. Cannot wait for the Kings.

My farm team is doing real well too. Started off 8-0-1, and have continued on a fairly decent pace since then. Bolland, Eaves, Harding are the reasons! And Barker too.

I am thinking about maybe some line matching too. May have to go out and get a defensive center...It will not be Gaustad, Sutherby or Betts. Not sure who. And one more d-man. But we shall see.

Yeah, I "coach" the games. But it doesn't feel like I do. I set my lines/tactics pre-game and then it's pretty much on auto-pilot. The only changes I make tends to be only if I lose a player to injury or penalty. I had hoped SI would put in a more hands-on coaching system, but they didn't. When I saw the previous post, I though I had missed something.

I love this game, but the documentation leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah, yeah, you keep saying you're going to school us. Talk it up, big boy.

How about a new bet? I'm not talking any of that season 1 garbage. I'm talking overall challenge. How about it?

I'm having a heck of a time acquiring a good goalie prospect. I tried for Harding early on but they consider a future franchise player and don't want to trade him. The Wings think Jimmy Howard has unbelievable upside and don't want to talk about trading him. I'm still trying to work something there. The Kings have unreal expectations on what they can get in return for Bernier. And the Flames are complete @$#!*& that undervalue everyone and won't work a decent deal with me so I can get Irving!

New bet for what? What are the stakes, little boy wonder what are the stakes?

I got Harding as my only UFA....since good old Minny released em all...Me so lucky! Which is why..this bet..I am in buddy! You apparently failed kindergarten...

My power play sucks by the way! Any help would be appreciated, although nothing you have ever told me works!

1. Bernier and Howard suck. Irving is decent, but you should go for Price. Give em...oh I don't know...Michalek and HAnnan? :-D

Huh Bolland out for 4 months with an UCL tear.

My farm team was over 20 points behind a Playoff spot at some point but now it's just 2 thanks to brilliant goaltending by Shantz and the goal-scoring machine that Bochenski is :-p
Just beat Hershey 5-1 on the road, only 9 forwards dressed because of injuries and call ups to the big club though. Oh yeah and Nieds is on the treatment table again. And no I'm not whining.

So, what's your record so far guys ?

Not telling you Danny...it is more fun to leave you in suspense. Plus I can't tell Bruins until after he posts his 20 games...... :-D

It can be way more hands on, if you slow the highlights. I even yank my goalie after a goal sometimes that sucks...and I have it on key highlights. Just hit pause, go in tactics and go from there.

I juggle lines, I play only who is going well, I play everyone when winning,..but most of all I only play Heatley and Havlat on the 3rd line. Cause who needs em on the first line when you are 15-0....

I am kidding guys, Not 15-0...14-1 :-D

GRRRR! I had a freakin reply almost completely typed up and hit the back button by accident (there is one on the side of the mouse by where my thumb goes).

Anyhow, I was saying I have no idea of what to use for an overall bet. I have an idea for a season by season bet though. I'm opening this up to Catchup too (and if somebody else is really interested). We have one winner for each season and the losers use a schoolatar until one of the bettors finishes the next season. So if I win season 1, you and Catchup would wear the schoolatar until any one of us finishes season 2. How does that sound? And then we can come up with a suitable overall bet.

Why would I want to help your PP now? :-p

I figured I'd give Bernier or Howard a chance if I could get them but the asking price is too high. I've since put out offers for Rask, Price, and Pogge. I know Pogge isn't the greatest but he could be a future backup. Rask might be decent. I've never played long enough to find out.

Hee...you can't help my pp. No one can.

I am in on the bet for the seasons, no issue.

The losers for overall must not only have the schooled by avatar, but behind it must be the real avatar of the person who schooled you???

No, just the schoolatar ;) Else the forums would become too confusing if everyone has the same avatar...

Just remember how confusing it was sometimes with the schoolatars ;)

Anyhow, i'm in for the schoolatars! :D Will be schooled, no doubt... I just wonder who will school me :D

Right, I have PMed Calv telling him I am joining in, and spent hours poring over the Hawks roster before finally posting my choice of core players into the roster recording thread. Hopefully I am all set for my first challenge! I have got off to a good start, winning my first game and then my second in OT and I have just beaten Nashville 10-2! My roster (and I have gone after a lot of the usual suspects I am afraid, I want to use this my first challenge getting used to abiding by the rules rather than getting new players) looks like this:

N/Ms: Niitymaki and Boucher
D:Pitkanen, Aucoin, Brian Campbell, D. Keith, B. Seabrook, and rotation between Ric Jackman and C. Barker.
LW: T. Vanek, J. Blake, D. Arkhipov, M. Holmqvist
C: P. Marleau, S. Avery, P. Sharp, J. Hamilton
RW: J. Jagr, D. Tucker, T. Ruutu, M. Blunden

Plenty of room under the EHM budget too...

I really like the overall bet idea. I can see Shadd's problem with with all the schoolatars being hard to tell apart. Here is my idea for the new schoolatars to tell them apart. Make the original avatar grey again but instead of the bright red "SCHOOLED" print, make it the main color of the original avatar (maybe take a secondary color from the avatar to use as an outline on the print?). This could be a way to make it not as hard to tell apart. I don't know what we could do on the overall schoolatar though.

So we've got me, batdad, and Shadd so far. Catchup, are you in? Any other takers?

EDIT:

Looks good, laskey! Glad to see you joining the challenge!

Sounds good there Bruins. I get the idea.
Laskey--that is one hell of a lineup. You are under the cap? So many super players...yet no Havlat.

Scary...

Anyway, good to see Shadd in on the bet. Thunderbug you can be in too, if you really want to play against a bunch of mods. :-D

What the heck are the Sabres thinking?

Yeah, you're more than welcome to join in thunderbug. Just be prepared! Catchup, batdad, and I are ringers. The last time someone other than one of us won a challenge was Challenge 5.1... the first season of the Fantasy Draft challenge. Rubbinno won that one. I haven't seen him around for quite some time. So like I said, be prepared! You've got serious competition!

I'm in too, especially if I get a better looking avatar! Except that it can't be seen under that schoolatar thing...

Whole bunch of trades there with laskey's team! I counted that after 9 games there has been 23 players who have got at least one regular season game in my team, and 17 of them are from the roster I started with. And I'm pretty happy with my team right now, just trying to get one LW/C for my third line, someone like Chimera or Moreau or Bates or maybe Ott. My roster is right now about like this:

Weekes-Boucher

Brad Stuart - Aucoin, Sturm - Marleau - Havlat
Duncan Keith - Seabrook, Michalek - Smolinski - Vrbata
Kukkonen - Vandermeer, Lapointe - Sharp - Ruutu
Arkhipov - Bolland - Hamilton

7th Dman Woolley
13th O-boy Holmqvist
(14th was Bochenski, but now he's in Norfolk)

In game #9 Keith got injured, but fortunately only for some two weeks, so I suppose he can make the core games.

Oh, btw, Sturm is absolutely on fire right now, he has scored eight goals in last six games and got 7 assists too :joy: . And Marleau has played nine games and has rating average of full 10. I suppose next comes the injury streak...

Uuh, Khabi won the Vezina :D

Connolly got the Conn Smythe with Dumont and Ruutu right behind him. Well deserved, he had 21 points in the Conference and Stanley Cup finals.
