New patch released by SI

Post by ElQuapo »

http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums ... 009492/p/3

Riz has been checking the game out and has found the bug that some people have been getting which made players decline in 2010/2011.

There should be a new patch out shortly to correct it it seems.

If people are up to that year in their game, then waiting for the patch might be a good idea. It should be possible to avoid the bug by patching an already begun game according to Riz in the thread at the SI forums.

Great to see the dedication from the SI crew to fix this

This way you can see how much those guys love EHM... The devellopement is officially stopped, they are all affected to other projects, but they can't stop to tweak and correct the game... That's not just passion or dedication, but really a love of the game, and that's what made them doing such a great game!

And with so much love to the game, i can't see them stopping the game for a long time... So maybe we could hope an EHM09 or EHM10... :D

Anyway, great news about the patch

As I have understood, you should be fine, as long as you get the patch before getting the bug.

If you save every month, and then get the bug, then you can play the savegame from one month before the bug after patching - at least that is how I have understood it - but don't hang me up on it :)

There's a beta patch available right now at the SI ftp server. Check out the SI EHM forum for details.

Great news! This really helps the long-term status of the game. If they're not developing it anymore, it's good to know we can run our franchises well into the future.

Riz and Graeme are really dedicated and you can tell they really love the game. It's great to see their passion and dedication, it's just such a shame that they can't keep putting that into further developing the game.

The work on the new patch matters has quite literally been done solely out of Graeme and Riz's free time; they've even taken days off to work on the game on their own time. I'll say it again that these guys are amazing in their dedication to the game and deserved sooooo much better.

Sweet! I looked earlier today and saw that they were still waiting a bit. Glad you posted this here or I wouldn't have noticed for another day or two. Thanks!

No problem :-)

The download is very slow right now, as there are probably alot of people getting it. I am still only at 65%.

Perhaps someone will put up a mirror later.

Yeah, it's most definitely not just your computer being slow. I'm at 49% right now and I started downloading right after my last post in this thread. I've been averaging between 8 and 12 kb/sec on a fast cable connection. Everybody and their brother is trying to download that patch right now.

Yes, we do love EHM quite a lot, but unfortunately I'll have to rain on your parade as I have strong doubts about having a new game out as soon as next year (making it '09). Personally, I'm exhausted (both physically and emotionally) after all the project has gone through and seeing as I'm working full time on FM now, there is little time to think anything EHM related in the near future. We did work on the last few patches on our own free time, but after spending the last 5+ years living and breathing EHM, working long into the night and weekends, I do now need to dedicate a bit more time for the family as well. It'll take some time to recharge my batteries if I'm going to take a whack at something new on my free time at some point and even if we get to work on another EHM full time professionally, it would take some planning beforehand and quite likely a new approach of some sorts.

May EHM live long and prosper through fan sites like this for the time being

Thanks for all of the great work on EHM, past and present. We can't express how much your hard work, even when the series is dead  , means to us and the rest of the EHM nation. =D> Good luck in the future with FM

Hi Riz. Fantastic work you've done over the years, I truly cannot applaud your work enough. I was just wondering whether you had any ideas of how we could use the current 07 game to start over at 07/08 for next season - should we just sim 06/07 next year and then start playing at the start of 07/08? Thanks again for your fantastic efforts, it's great to have a game made by people who actually care!

Bah...this game is so good that we can easily wait until 2020! :D

Anyway, i understand that it must be really exhausting to do such a hard work and be forced to stop it the way it has been :( And the family is really important too, so it's normal that you want to dedicate about them ;)

Anyhow, tons of thanks for the superb work you've done along the years on EHM =D> We'll never forget all the good times we had/have on those games, and will never forget your superb work and dedication =D>
