Height, weight and CA monitoring (12 years of data)

Post by archibalduk »

Nino33 has compiled an astonishing amount of data over a 12 year period in EHM with regards to how players' height, weight and CA develop over time. Nino has agreed I could upload this here in case it is of any use to the Manimal Roster Project.

As you will see from the attached spreadsheet, Nino has taken a sample of 125 players and has recorded their height, weight and CA at certain intervals over 12 years in game. This could be very useful when determining what height/weight/CAs to give very young players in EHM.

Here's the original explanation Nino recently sent to me:
nino33 wrote:Here's the data produced from my recent testing....I just wanted to have a better idea for myself of how CA (might) develop given my limited playing experience + I needed to be look at Height/Weight development (very important for my 1974 db)
It's not "done" but I'm putting it aside for now to return to some direct editing on the 1974 db.
I think I'll be completing the tests at some point as I'd ike to see the lowering of CA occur prior to player retirement.
I've kept the saves, and even have a few more seasons already done but I haven't got to entering the data into the spreadsheet yet.

What I do have entered in the attached excel spreadsheet is three different tests, the first two go from 2006-2013 and the third from 2006-2008.
Using the UUDB 5.0 I followed the CA of 125 different players (ages 12-29); in hindsight I could have picked some better players to test in some cases but that's OK...
I also looked at Height/Weight development. The yellow highlighting indicactes "growth" from the previous year, orange indiactes "regression"
In initial testing I learned Height/Weight changed immediately at start-up, so I have start-up (August 30) data and then data from each year on October 15th

I did not know basic things like if CA could develop more than a few points each year, so for me the data I obtained was very enlightening.
And critical knowledge for me was the Height/Weight progression, and I learned it's pretty much a "one time thing" regardless of starting age, and so I'm hoping I can get desired results with a trial-and-error approach (though I have NOT yet actually reviewed the data so i'm not sure how random the amounts gained are in the "one time adjustment").

At Nino's request, I have moved this thread to the Data Editing Forum.

Thanks Arch!

I did this research last August, and (from an editing perspective) some “nuggets of knowledge” (to me)

- CA can jump quite a bit in one year! And it can go down and then back up again!
- Height/Weight gain pretty much only occurs at game start-up, and only for players age 20 and under
- By checking yearly using the SavedGame Editor I could see when a player Retired (black filled cells) & when a player regened (question mark)

The test version of the 1974 db has not yet had the Height/Weight adjusted to factor in the increase at game start-up, but I am hoping to use this data set to determine a “best guess” percentage to reduce each players starting Height/Weight to (those who are under age 21)…..it was thinking about doing this that got me to thinking about this research again, and thus my request to Archi to make it more publicly viewable – I would love to hear any feedback/observations anyone has…..

For me I’m hoping the better I understand things, the better I can make the 1974 db.

Regards :-)

To me, it seems the height/weight gain at start-up is at random. I wonder what is the deciding factor on setting a player's height/weight. Perhaps it somehow correlates to their strength, stamina or natural fitness values?

It varied depending on the player...I looked at 125 different players over a 12-29 year old age range.
Younger players usually have a "variable" PA (-7 -8 -9 -14 or -15) while older players (21+) have a "set" PA
At the start of the spreadsheet/data (far left) is the "starting Attributes" in black font so you can see the starting Age, Height/Weight, CA and PA

They're all the same database, the UUDB version 5.0 (which I had nothing to do with! I used it because it had "extra young future stars" that I could use for the test)

I ran three separate tests of the exact same database.
I was (at the time) interested in seeing how Height/Weight and CA developed.
I was interested because of my work on my 1974 database (where I have players as young as 1 at start-up!)
