I'm copyping/Borrowing the idea of making an all Canadian NHL, but I'm probably going to use the free Agent database, and im not touching the CHL in the hopes of getting all teh leagues to retain their top talent.

I would like to make all the major leagues have salary caps of 40-50M not sure yet. There was a poster on here who had the idea of making the other leagues compete with the NHL im borrowing the idea for my personal use, and im going decide which cities to give teams.

I would like to know, does the EHM with hex edit remove all forgeiner limits ?? and how can i add salary caps to leaguies like the AHL/RSL/FEL/SEL/CZE/SVK/DEL ?

is it possible to edit the number of games played ? and what about league reps and removing the NHL release clause ?

could anybody explain to me how to make it so that the leagues are basicaly equal ?

EDIT just realized there is no free agent DB....my bad

You can make your own free agents db easily, though. Using Eastside UK's Free Agents Utility (which should be downloadable from here), you can make every single player and staff of the db a free agent unattached to any team by rights.

Hex editing goes beyond my knowledge I'm afraid, as long as I won't sit down and tool around with it, there's little I can do. Thankfully, there are some highly competent folks around who can help you out with that

As far as making leagues equal... I'm struggling with that as well. Lower the NHL's reputation, and boost the other leagues' and teams'. Ensure teams in non-NHL leagues have high player budgets and deep pockets, and ensure they keep such a high budget by giving them an initial salary mass that sums up to what you want it to be (though I'm not sure I ever saw it make a difference). Raising the national league standard in the Nations section of the db may (or may not) help; idem with the game importance.

Still, you'll notice a tendency for non-NHL teams, even those without foreigner restrictions, to focus on hiring average local players and a few not-more-than-good foreigners instead of worldclass foreigners, even with the right budgets and reputation. Those leagues, even if they have the pockets deep enough to sign both Crosby and Ovie, will not even try to sign them as UFAs and will rather aim for career AHLers and fringe former NHLers at best. In my latest experiment, the league I had built to compete directly with the NHL, depite being given financial and reputational conditions on par with the NHL's, had these guys as their most talented players: Richard Lintner, Robert Döme, Bernd Brückler, Juha Lind, Wade Dubielewicz, Josef Melichar, Erik Westrum, Nathan Gerbe, Leland Irving, Krys Kolanos and Ryan O'Byrne. Those guys are good, but they're not even NHL regulars! And yet, all of those teams had a theoretical budget of over $60 million. The virtual Gary Bettman must not have had too much trouble sleeping. I don't really know if there's a hardcode that blatantly makes it so that "non-NHL leagues must suck at all cost", but it's really difficult to compete with the NHL (and it's horrible Release Clause). Do tell us how well your experiments go with this! Quite a few people out there are interested in this kind of knowledge, me included.

YZG - Are you sure the Free Agent Utility removes Rights? IIRC I’ve read that the Utility makes everyone a Free Agent BUT the Rights remained

There are Attributes that can be edited that in theory should affect the player signing/movement, like Loyalty, Adaptability, and Ambition.

I have had success removing the NHL Release Clause from players over age 20 by editing their Home/Current/World Reputations all down to 80 - it seems any decent European/Russian player under age 20 ALWAYS gets an NHL Release Clause

Yes the FA Utility removes rights, as long as you check the "remove rights" box. Every time I used it, I had no rights problem.
