The Blue Line Prediction League

Post by Octavian »

We are pround to present a new part of our website, the hockey prediction game.

You can start playing our Prediction League by registering.

What's it all about?
You can predict results of hockey matches, if you predict the correct result (score or winning team), you will be rewarded points. There are weekly winners. It's a league structure. This first season will be more a testing period. We hope you will enjoy playing this game.

3 Points for a correct score. i.e. you predict 3-1 and the result is 3-1.
1 Point for a correct result. You predict 1-1, the score is 2-2.

The results are in - there's one more game to go: Ilves v Jokerit which takes place tomorrow.

What is everbody's opinion on points scoring?
We could have points for predicting one correct score; e.g. if you predict the score is 3-2 when it's actually 3-1 then you will get a point because you predicted that team A would score 3 goals.

I was thinking maybe setting the points as follows:
- Predicting the correct score: 4pts
- Predicting the correct result: 2pts
- Predicting one correct score: 1pt

Comments, suggestions?

Under the current scoring system, here's how the table looks:

1 Frosty - 3pts
2 Octavian - 2
3 Tasku - 1
4 Archibalduk - 1
5 Lukeozade100 - 1
6 Ogilthorpe - 1

It's all about luck (especially for me who knew nothing about the teams and was too lazy to research!)
But i supose it is a bit over the top to get a point for 1 right score

I think that predicting the correct result should be worth the most points - as winning is the name of the game.

- Predicting the correct result: 3pts
- Predicting the correct score: 2pts
- Predicting one correct score: 1pt [/quote]

This would allow for a maximum of 5 points earned per game.

My view:

- Predicting the correct result: 3pts
- Predicting the correct score: 1pts

Darn it, Jokerit are 2-0 up in the first period. I hope Ilves can draw level, otherwise my 3-3 prediction is going to be totally wrong :x :D

btw, the fixtures for tomorrow have been added. The reason that there's so many fixtures is because of the playoffs. If this is too many fixtures for everyone then we won't add every playoff fixture ;)

Here's the links for the live scores of the Finnish and Swedish leagues:

Finland

Sweden

LiveScore is also quite good but the results are a little delayed.

The amount of fixtures is all right - as long as we're not having to predict scores daily. Having to log on evey second or third day (to predict scores) is fine with me.

I didn't see I had admin status in there. I'll start adding the results in the evening, and add games as the old ones are played, if no one else is doing this.

Yep, we could put Swiss, DEL and UK games to the predictions as well. Not too many leagues, or maybe just one game from each league, to keep it small enough?
