1974 Rosters v3.0 and CSD Patch v1.5 Released

Post by archibalduk »

Version 3.0 of Nino's 1974 roster update has been released! To coincide with the release, there is also an updated version of the Custom Start Date Patch (with Retro Launcher) which will allow you to use a 1974 start date. For anybody unable/unwilling to use the CSD Patch, a 2006 start date version of the rosters is also available. Here are the download links:

1974 Database v3.0: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 59#p144905
CSD Patch v1.5: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 83#p128598

If that's not enough, jhcjobpb has created a background pack and a 3D logo pack for use with Nino's database. Follow the 1974 DB download link above and you'll see links to the packs in the 'Addons' section of the post.

As always, the latest version of Nino's database includes a vast array of new updates. In particular, there has been extensive updating of European and Russian-based players as well as US college players. Plenty of new staff have been added and many attributes have been tweaked and improved. A really big thank you to Nino for all of his hard work in bringing us what has become a very detailed recreation of 1970s hockey. =D>

I love the retro database and this newest update is making it even better! I highly recommend that everyone try it, even if you weren't alive during this era. It's refreshing because you have to look at the game a little differently. The types of players are different than what you're used to. The big talent is on a few teams and most others aren't as good.

Also, just to give everyone a "heads up", we'll be kicking off a new challenge with this DB soon. The current Buffalo Sabres challenge ends tomorrow (Friday 7/25) and we'll launch the new challenge on Monday (most likely).

Hehe I love the use of smilies! :-D

Unfortunately Manimal has spotted a couple of 1974 start date version-related issues. Players/staff with the random 01-Feb-1900 DOBs are not getting random DOBs with the 1974 start date - they're actually being set to 74 years old in game!! I'm going to try and take a look tomorrow if I can (in between packing up boxes before I move...).

Thanks Arch!

EDIT
I’ve just completed work on version 3.1 of the 1974 database, and it’s been sent to Archi to upload. I’ve removed all random DOBs and ensured everyone has an appropriate Birth Year.
Testing showed the game at start-up does create lower CA Free Agent Staff that are to young (starting at age 5...over 2000 under age 20). Arch is gonna take a look at it if he can (he might have a fix attempt)...if not, if desired I think the SavedGame Updater could be used at start-up on Day 1 to change all Staff's age to a minimum of say 25

EDIT - Looks like for now the only solutions are use the SavedGame Updater at start-up on Day 1 to change all Staff's age to a minimum of say 25 OR accept/use it "as is" OR use the 2006 start date version

I'm trying to reduce/eliminate the unwanted extra young Staff the game creates at start-up by (hopefully) reducing the need for the game to create additional Staff at start-up

Currently I'm using "copy/paste" to create in the 1974 database the Staff the game is creating at start up. It's a bit of a convoluted process, but I think it'll work.
Thanks to the Updater's recently added SavedGame functionality, I'm able to get the needed data to create the Staff that the game is creating at start-up anyhow, and before creating/inputting the Staff into the 1974 database I will edit their DOBs so no Staff will be younger than 25

I hope to finish the copy/paste creating of about 10,000 additional Staff later today, and then do a bit of testing, and then release a version 3.2 (so version 3.1 may not even be released!)

Alas it didn't work...

There won't be a "version 3.2" release (as there's no need, as there is nothing "fixed" from 3.1)...3.1 still makes sense to release as at least the historical players/staff that used the 1900 Birth Year have been "fixed" BUT it seems the game itself creates Staff who are teenagers and preteens! It seems the issue is just "cosmetic" and doesn't affect gameplay (hopefully it'll be fixable someday)

I've sent version 3.1 to the TBL Mods and I'm sure they'll get it linked up when they can!

Regards :-)

EDIT - From the "1974 db - Mario Lemieux as an 8 year old" thread...

I got an error saying v3.0.4. staff.contracts.cpp 3112.

However, it didn't crash the game. I could click it and move on

I got that in testing. Then I didn't get it. Then I got it in my most recent testing attempt. It's an annoyance but it doesn't hurt anything that I can see.

Are you using the CSD Patch to start in 1974? If so, maybe that's the issue (maybe the 01/02/1900 random date is getting read as actually 1900 and the game is perceiving there are contracts that are to long) http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 12#p144879

I'm using the CSD Patch. I'm just starting up a game for the challenge. I'll see if it happens again.

Some guys in junior got contracts until 2002! They signed in game
Steve Tambellini for example. In his 13th contract year(BCHL) his salary is 872,420,000! After that he has four years without salary and then 872,420,000 again.
He would be too old to play in that league by then
