my coaching staff in the eihl is funny.

Michel therrien, mike babcock, alain vigneault, paul Maurice,

I just lost therrien though to the lightning.

quite a few first round picks from real life2016 draft class, the guy that went to the oilers, chychryn.

Tough Competition is right. Tanguay (32G 64Pts) finished 1st with Breire (32G 66 pts) at 2nd, and Rafalski (79GP 53 Points) at third. I might be biased but Rafi deserved it - he had a -0.05 AvR difference at 7.39. Great news is that he's dominating in the second season where the other two are struggling :)

I really believe my squad in five seasons is nowhere near the best team ive had, but amazingly we've gotten out of our euro group.

Currently entering my fourth season with the Penguins

I won Stanley in my first two seasons but lost it last season to Edmonton. I was slightly throwing it then as I felt like a threepeat was greedy and therefore didn't bother keeping on top of what was happening in game, or the fact I had my unit tactics switched off - oops - but by gad, I will be back after that glorious drinking vessel like a mad man next season. In retrospect, trading away Ian Cole before the deadline as I didn't like his new contract demands was a little hot headed.

I've finalised my roster for next season and it will be

Fleury - Murray

Maatta-Letang
Krug-Sustr
Koekkoek-Marincin

(Green -Corrado as reserves)

Hoffman-Crosby-Kessel
Forsberg-Malkin-Puljujarvi
Tlusty-Namestnikov-Donskoi
Helm-Kruger-Rust

Archibald as forward reserve - the game really rates him for some reason.

I got Poolparty after trading Kunitz for Anaheim's first got really, really lucky. This will be Luke Green's first season with the big team and I'm pretty excited as he looks like a beast.

My big trades were Hoffman (cost me Clendening, Sprong and my 2nd), Krug (cost me rights to Josh Paterson, Greg Meireles, Ian Blacker and 2 2nds (mine and Colorado's)) and Forsberg (Pouliot, Bennett, Bonino, rights to Adam Tilander and Thomas Carriere, and 1st and 3rd). In retrospect, Forsberg was maybe vanity/madness, but it did help Sid put up a 100 point season, which was fun, so.... then again, no Pouliot possibly cost me Stanley last year. I feel like I've done a decent job of rebuilding my defence though, so fingers crossed it holds.

Should be a good season. Might try playing around a bit more with spreading the attacking talent to create a more deadly machine.

Of course, the real fun starts at the end of this coming season as Koekkoek, Forsberg and Poolparty are all due raises, and I ain't sure where this cap space is coming from, short of possibly waving a fond farewell to Fleury... and then the season after all the big Pittsburgh contracts are up... let the good times roll :-D

Was going great until my game stopped playing background games. Now none of the prospects or players not in my selected leagues are playing all but killing development. So at a stand still.

Clogs up the forum? Really? Didn't realize the traffic around here was so hard to manage and sift through. How else should I have worded it? This is the "How is it going thread" is it not? The other thread was the "Report bug thread" Neither of my posts were looking for replies and both were well within the thread descriptions. I think you're in the wrong for accusing me of clogging up the forum. But I doubt you'd admit to it.

We consider that it does clog up the forums. Although we are not the busiest of websites, we do all of this in our spare time and do not wish to have to spend that time tidying up after things like this. Perhaps if you had read the Forum Conduct/Rules Thread stickied to the top of every forum you'd have seen that this is the policy we apply (see the section entitled "Spamming the Forums"). I'd be grateful if you could read that thread before you post further on this site.

I'd also be grateful if this thread could be brought back on topic.

Left Toronto to take over Detroit in 2023. They had finished in the bottom parts of the east conf the season before. After their GM retired the Ass. GM had apparently been making major signings from FA (defence mostly) just before I arrived, and I continued this by brining in some much needed bottom 6 help. They have been signing up way too many youngsters though and let go some good ones. But they have been drafring pretty good I noticed in the end. They have a franchise C, and supposedly one more but the guy is very dissapointing for me so far.

But. The new signings clicked right away and my tactics I took with me from Toronto paied off. We won the President's Trophy and went on to win the Stanley Cup as well. I could never have hoped for anything more then a playoff spot before the season. I think they overachived by quite some margin. But the future looks decent and so far, about 30 games into my 2nd season there we sit 2nd in East. Not looking quite as impressive as last year though. Gonna stick around and try to build them up the way I did in Toronto. :-)

Good grief. Spamming? You guys are in a league all on your own. I was hardly spamming. Either way, you won't have to worry about it.

Hi guys just wanted ask your opinions.

Really not bragging or anything but I've played now 3 seasons with Washington Capitals using 98-99 retro rosters (which are awesome btw) and I've won.... 3 Stanley Cups. :dunno: :-? :joy:
This is my first time playing EHM:EA, but I've played a lot EHM 2007 before. So is anyone feeling this game too easy or can I just be proud of myself?

My Current lineup is:

Elias - Yzerman - P.Bure
Sanderson - Oates - Svejtkovsky
Konowalchuk - Ricci - A.Carter
Nikolishin - Draper - Bylsma

Johansson - Gonchar
Nummelin - Karpovtsev
Tinordi - Baumgartner
Visnovsky

Kolzig
Vanbiesbrouck

Konowalchuk, Nikolishin and Vanbiesbrouck are leaving next summer so I can finally give my youngsters more playing time :joy:

Macy, Washington was a really good team in the late 90s (with a stanley cup final appearance) but then made a couple mistakes that lead them astray. Seems like you made the connections and created some luck that they couldn't back then. =D> After you get playing you'll find that you set rules for the number of Free agents you sign to make the game more challenging. Realistically Yzerman wouldn't of gone to any other team besides Detroit...maybe Toronto

try taking over Winnipeg or Columbus in the 1998 roster if you want a challenge!

Yea I remember that, lost to Detroit right? I just thought they were upper midtier team or something but three Stanley Cups in a row wasnt really my expectation. I think I really have to start again using Wild or Jets(Thrashers). I really wasnt gonna sign Stevie Y but no one else was going for it even after the season started so i had to go for it. Thanks for your thoughts dave1927p :-)

There's a Troy Archibald on the 2019 draft, clearly I should sign him as he'll be amazing.

Halfway through the season and its rocky as can be. Lots of players I was banking on re-signing, won't. Gonna try and hold my nerve until the deadline to see if I can offload any of them for a return (because that worked so well for me last time...)

There were a lot of rumours about Yzerman getting traded to his hometown Ottawa Senators. Mid-to-late 90s IIRC

So, I've been playing the 90's retro rosters and I took over as CBS, as I was discussing with jhcjobpb in another thread. After all, it's fun to build from nothing,

I signed FA's in Year 1 like Steve Reinprecht, Jeff Halpern, Jason Blake, Kyle Calder, Brian Pothier, Steve Kariya, Jason Chimera, and Tom Preissing. I nabbed Jim Cummins off waivers, and then Cale Hulse. I acquired Khabibulin in a trade, and then Guy Hebert that ANA just wanted rid of the contract of. I also got Luke Richardson in a trade for a 4th and a 5th.

Buffalo fired Lindy Ruff towards the end of Season 1 and you better believe I fired my lousy placeholder coach I had (just to have a warm body in there) and snapped Ruff up to coach my own team. Ruff now heads a decent staff that includes Dean Lombardi, Dean Evason, Don Luce, Benoit Allaire, and Joe Cirella. Don Hay is my Assistant GM.

First season, I drafted as follows (after a terrible 9-win campaign where I struggled to even fill out the NHL roster with warm bodies):

1. Henrik Zetterberg (W)
31. Ryan Miller (G)
61. Andrew Hutchinson (D)
91. Samuel Pahlsson (C)
121. Tony Lydman (D)
151. Ryan Malone (W)
181. Niklas Backstrom (G)

Pahlsson and Lydman were immediately signed for Year 2, as they were fairly ready. I'm hopeful Zetterberg at least can be ready to play for me in Season 3. I nabbed Peca from BUF in the offseason, and grabbed Kirk Maltby as a FA.

For my staff, I grabbed some scouts like Mike Babcock (LOL) and Terry Simpson.

Tim Thomas, David Vyborny, Brian Rafalski and Lubomir Visnovsky, and Jan Hlavac were signed from overseas and came into the fold in the 1st offseason. This gretly helped my roster depth.

Things really came around though about 1/4 of the way into Year 2. I had started out well, and then dropped like 7 of 10 and knew I needed to make a move to boost the team. A 25 year old Sami Salo was unhappy in OTT and having problems so I made an offer to them of Jonathon Cheechoo (still i juniors and I'm doubtful will ever develop), not figuring they'd take it. They readily accepted, and next thing I knew I had 4 good dmen instead of 3, and that brought my play back up. Salo has 5G and 13 pts in 32 games, and more importantly is a +7 on a team that had been a sinkhole of minus players. He seems to have *really* helped my team's possession.

Next my 3-headed goalie situation (Nik Khabibulin, Tim Thomas, Guy Hebert) came to a head. Khabibulin and Hebert both began complaining about treatment, Hebert asked to be traded, so I shipped Hebert off to the NYR for two 3rds, and Khabibulin is now taking the bulk of the starts, with Thomas taking spot duty.

Then Cale Hulse began grousing about not playing every game, so I flipped him for Brendan Witt straight up.

At the Year 2 trade deadline, I sit 11th in the West at 25-28-8 and 58 pts. It's unlikely I'll catch #8 Calgary at 75 pts, so it looks like it's time to move guys around and maximize development instead of wins (it's not tanking, honest!).

The biggest problem I'm running into is EVERYONE else in the league thinks my players are overpaid (even 20 goal scorers making 600k). It makes deal-making very difficult.

There was more than that, there were specific talks IIRC. DET had worked a deal to get Alexei Yashin back for Yzerman, and owner Mike Illitch stepped in and said "No, we will not trade Yzerman, period" and vetoed the move, according to most second-hand accounts. There's some debate as to when exactly this all took place, but evidence points to it being some time between 1995 (when DET lost to NJ in the Cup Finals) and 1997 (when DET won their first Cup in the modern era).

There had been rumblings that Yzerman was "too quiet" as a leader and couldn't lead a team to anything that way (never mind that DET could have maybe won that Cup in 1995 had the league just decided to start calling all Holding and Interference again, in retrospect more people should have realized what it would lead to). DET therefore was going to move Yzerman out, try to get mostly equal talent back, and then bring in another leader to wear the "C".

Sorry to interrupt your discussion but i have a more recent question.

Started with the new database (8.2) a game in the Swedish Hockey Allsvenskan (Second Tier) with AIK.

Pretty tough battle trying to sign a few free agents, went through a lot of scouting and try-outs and rebuilding is still ongoing. Noticed one thing once the exhibition games ended: try-out players are allowed to play in league games. Is this normal or is it a bug ?

Took advantage as my goaltending is weak and i've featured some good ones in the net and it helped me win some games. But i find it weird that I'm allowed to play them during league games.

AFAIK try out in Euro leagues is just as any other contract, only very short -- to try the player out. So they are allowed to play as long as the try out is valid. It's not like in the NHL where try outs last during the training camp. You can offer try out at any time of the season.

I've noticed I'm paying them a small amount while on trial. I could take advantage of this until they get signed by more powerful teams as i do not seem to attract that many free agents. This has happened to me before while playing EHM 2007 with Slavia Prague. But they had tougher rules back then with a limited number of foreign players.

Hopefully the goalies don't get picked up real soon as they are doing wonders for now :-p
