Lower League Management
Just in case anyone's interested i thought i'd start a thread for peeps who start with a smaller team like for instance a British League team who are looking for unsigned players to enhance their squad. For instance i started a game with the Edinburgh Capitals (I'm from Glasgow but i stayed in Edinburgh for 5 years) and i noticed my team was, to be honest, a bit sh!t. So i brought a host of players in on trial mostly players who had any NHL experience, no matter how little experience he head it showed to me that at one point someone in the NHL thought the player was worth signing. One of the players i uncovered was 31 year old Dan Kesa, a RW/LW from Canada. I brought Dan in on a 1 year contract and in his first 15 games scored 11 goals and 8 assists which merited a new 2 year deal. This is just an example of the type of player i'm hoping this thread uncovers. I've also uncovered a few others with my Capitals team from lots of different places, 2 that come to mind without loading my game just now are Astafjenko (D) a Latvian international from a Finnish Elite League team and Hurjala (LW) from Tampere (Same League). Astafjenko's right belong to the BlueJackets and the way he's playing for me i think they may be calling on him at one point and Hurjala's scoring record has put even Kesa's record for me in the shade. Anyway if anyone'sinterested i'll post any other gems i find and i hope you do the same.

LLM for EHM - I like it 8)
I'm gonna start a game with Manchester Phoenix but I don't know whether that's strictly LLM. On the other hand, they only have 3 or 4 defencemen and no money!
A cool challenge would be to start off with an LLM team and work your way up to the NHL. I think you'd have to have a couple of background leagues running so that you could go LLM -> a faily decent league -> WHL -> NHL or something like that.
Keep us posted on how it goes

I've found the money for the UK teams is randomized. Manchester should be a good team to be though (if they fill that stadium.archibalduk wrote:LLM for EHM - I like it 8)

A 17 year old free agent called Matt Bruce is a reliable defenceman. Canadian and will sign for a BNL team for around £6000 a year.
On the demo I had a 16 year old netminder called Kris Westblom who was quality, although his stats seem a lot worse on the real game so dont know how good he will be now.

What leagues would you recommend you should start with if you're going to manage a UK team?
NHL - obviously since it can't be turned off. One or two players may come accross when they're too old/decrepid () to play in the NHL.
Canada - failed youth players?
France - a rubbish league; maybe it would increase the number of players that are available to be signed?
What do you think

I usually just start with all the leagues except the one i'm managing in running in the background, then if you want to take a job in another league then just switch that league to the foreground. I'm no longer manager of the Edinburgh Capitals anymore, i'm currently managing the fantastically named Red Deer Rebels, its a lot harder trying to develop a team when all your players are under 20 but its a challenge worth taking. I'm hoping that after another couple of seasons an NHL team will let me take over the helm.

If your only going to have 2 background leagues then i recommend using the NHL as one of them, then you can bring it to the foreground if you are wanting to apply for a job in it. Also i recommend either the Swedish or Finnish leagues. Was a good source for players for my Edinburgh Capitals team. PS Just in case anyone's interested my mate used to use Artmoney with CM and i tried it with EHM and you can use it to boost your funds. Handy if you're a very small team.

After playing the freeware version with NHL teams I decided to start NHL EHM with a canadian junior team. I find it extremely interesting and challinging to try to build a succesfull junior side.
I started with Halifax Mooseheads in QMJHL. A below average team in the league. I have only two players drafted to NHL but i hope that there will be plenty of more during my era.
Some of my players have drawn attention from overseas and I would love to see them play in some european side.
Maybe after few years i'll get a job from the "show" (NHL) and I'll get a chance to bring those players to NHL level.
